A quick release mechanism for an load carriage vest includes a shoulder connector for connecting two sections of the vest at a shoulder region of the vest, and a flank connector for connecting two sections of the vest at a flank region of the vest. Each of the connectors includes comprising interleaveable knuckles. A pair of flexibly connected locking pins is configured to be inserted through the knuckles of one of the connectors when the knuckles of that connector are interleaved so as to engage that connector. The flexibly connected locking pins are configured such that pulling on the pair of flexibly connected locking pins in a single motion removes the pins from the knuckles of the connectors to concurrently disengage the connectors.

Vest with quick release

An adjustable device for supporting a load includes a belt for fastening about a user's waist. A rod includes two rigid elements. One of the elements is longitudinally slidable relative to the other element so as to adjust a length of the rod. A lower end of the rod is attachable to the belt and an upper section of the rod is attachable to a shoulder harness that is placeable on the user's shoulders for carrying the load. A control is operable by the user when carrying the load to unlock a locking mechanism that, when locked, fixes the length of the rod. When the control is operated concurrently with movement of the user's shoulders relative to the user's waist, the length of the rod is changed to adjust a distribution of a weight of the load between the user's shoulders and waist.

Adjustable load carrier device

A load carrier device for enabling a user to carry a load includes a belt for fastening about a waist of the user and an element of substantial vertical rigidity configured to exert a lifting force on the load when the load is attached to shoulder straps on shoulders of the user. The device further includes an adjustable elastic connection attached to the belt for supporting a lower end of the element of substantial vertical rigidity such that adjusting the adjustable elastic connection changes a distribution of a weight of the load between the shoulders and the waist of the user.
