A method in a transmitter comprises transmitting a first data block to a first user, using an index modulation scheme and using SSD for transmitting the first data block. In some embodiments, the index modulation scheme is index-modulated OFDM and the indices comprise subcarrier indices. The method further comprises determining that a retransmission of the first data block to the first user is needed, and rearranging a bit mapping of bits in the first data block to indices used in the index modulation scheme, compared to a bit mapping previously used for transmitting the first data block to the first user using the index modulation scheme. The method further comprises retransmitting the second data block to the first user, where this retransmitting comprises using the index modulation scheme with the rearranged bit mapping and using SSD.

Enhanced retransmission scheme for index modulation in NOMA

A method, network node and user equipment are provided. In one or more embodiments, a first user equipment, UE, configured to communicate with a second UE for performing non-orthogonal multiple access, NOMA, communication is provided. The first UE includes processing circuitry configured to receive a first signal including a first component of interleaved-rotated symbols associated with the second UE, determine a second component of the interleaved-rotated symbols based at least in part on the received first component, and cause transmission of a second signal including the second component of the interleaved-rotated symbols to the second UE as part of the NOMA communication where the second signal not including the first component of the interleaved-rotated symbols.

Reliability using signal space diversity in cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA)

Apparatuses and corresponding methods for discrete power allocation for a non-orthogonal multiple access, NOMA, system are provided. A set of discrete power allocation values is determined. Each power allocation value is assigned to a particular wireless device, WD, in a set of WDs. The determining includes subjecting the power allocation values to at least one constraint to reduce a number of power allocation value combinations. A plurality of superimposed data signals are transmitted to the WDs in the set. Each data signal is intended for a different one of the WDs in the set and has a different power allocation value. Each WD in the set receives all the plurality of superimposed data signals. A different control signal is transmitted to each WD in the set of WDs. The control signal includes an indication of the power level allocation values of the set of discrete power allocation values.
