A method of indicating user equipment (UE) status, the method comprising: determining, at the UE based on at least one of sensor output information of the UE or one or more incoming wireless signals to the UE, an indoor/outdoor status of the UE; transmit, via at least one transmitter, an indoor/outdoor indication message to a network entity, wherein the indoor/outdoor indication message reports the indoor/outdoor status of the UE to the network entity, and the network entity is a base station, or a server, or both; receiving, via at least one receiver, a control information message from the network entity in response to the indoor/outdoor indication message; and changing operation of the UE based on the control information message.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for reporting and responding to beam failure events based on a receiving cell restriction rule. An example method includes detecting an occurrence of a threshold number of beam failures for a connection between the UE and a set of cells; identifying a candidate beam for restoring the connection between the UE and the set of cells in response to detecting the occurrence of the threshold number of beam failures; transmitting, to one or more cells in the set of cells, a beam failure recovery (BFR) request including an identification of the candidate beam; receiving, from a cell in the set of cells, a BFR response in response to transmitting the BFR request, wherein the BFR response is received according to a restriction rule; and resuming communications with the set of cells based on the BFR response.

A parameter server located at a base station may coordinate federated learning among multiple user equipment (UEs) using over-the-air (OTA) aggregation with power control to mitigate aggregation distortion due to amplitude misalignment. The parameter server may select a first group of UEs for a first OTA aggregation session of a federated learning round based on a common received power property of each UE in the first group of UEs. The parameter server may transmit a global model to the first group of UEs. Each UE in the first group may train the global model based on a local dataset and transmit values associated with the trained local model. The parameter server may receive, on resource elements for the first group of UEs, a first aggregate amplitude modulated analog signal representing a combined response from the first group of UEs.

Power control in over the air aggregation for federated learning

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for reporting content processing times to a base station to allow the base station to efficiently schedule bi-directional communications one or more UEs. A content processing time may correspond to the time taken by a UE to process one or more downlink signals received in one or more downlink transmissions. In some examples, the UE may report a content processing time for each downlink transmission. In some examples, the UE may report one or more content processing times for multiple downlink transmissions. The base station may use the content processing times to configure an appropriate gap between downlink and uplink transmissions such that the UE may have sufficient time to process downlink signals before transmitting one or more uplink transmissions in response to the one or more downlink transmissions.

Some aspects described herein relate to transmitting, by a first node to a second node, indications of one or more groups of component carriers (CCs) that share a beamformer at the first node. The nodes may beamform antenna resources for communications based on the indications.

A UE may identify a plurality of local model update elements associated with an updated local machine learning model. The updated local machine learning model may have been generated based on a global machine learning model received from a base station and a local dataset. The UE may identify one or more local model update elements of the plurality of local model update elements for update element dropping based on at least one of a channel gain, a PAPR specification, an RF emission specification, or an RF condition. The UE may transmit, to the base station over a multiple access channel via analog signaling, at least some local model update elements of the plurality of local model update elements based on dropping of the identified one or more local model update elements.

The UE may receive control signaling indicating a reference signal configuration. The reference signal configuration, the control signaling, or both may indicate one or more beam failure detection (BFD) reference signals and a quasi co-location (QCL) type associated with a set of BFD reference signal sets. Each BFD reference signal set of the set of BFD reference signal sets may be associated with a respective TRP. The UE may detect a beam failure based on receiving a BFD reference signal set using one or more beams according to the QCL type associated with the BFD reference signal set. The UE may initiate a beam failure recovery procedure based on detecting the beam failure.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to receive control signaling indicating a beam update configuration that defines a timing for updating a common beam for communications with the UE in relation to a communication and in response to a downlink control information (DCI) message that schedules the communication and indicates an update to the common beam. In some aspects, the common beam is shared across a set of channels, a set of reference signals, or both. The UE may then receive, from a base station, the DCI message that schedules the communication and indicates the update to the common beam. The UE may then perform at least one beam switching procedure to update the common beam at the UE based on receiving the DCI message and in accordance with the beam update configuration.

A user equipment (UE) may receive control signaling from a network node indicating a reference signal (RS) configuration for RS measurements. The RS configuration may indicate a first set of beams, a first periodicity for measuring RSs on the first set of beams, a second set of beams, and a second periodicity for measuring RSs on the second set of beams. The UE may monitor a wireless channel for a first set of RSs communicated via the first set of beams according to the first periodicity and monitor the wireless channel for a second set of RSs communicated via the second set of beams according to the second periodicity. The UE and the network node may dynamically update one or more of the beam sets, periodicities, or both, to perform RS measurements.

In some examples, a user equipment (UE) may selectively apply transmission configuration indicator (TCI) information and/or spatial relation information received via a medium access control-control element (MAC-CE) to component carriers. In some examples, a UE may apply the TCI information and/or spatial relation information included in a MAC-CE to multiple component carriers if the UE has been configured with a list that includes the component carriers (and, optionally, if a component carrier identified by the MAC-CE is a member of the list of component carriers).
