A method and network node for deep learning based user clustering in millimeter wave (mmWave) non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes determining a minimum number of clusters to be served by the network node subject to a first constraint that limits a total number of WDs in each cluster. The method also includes assigning WDs to each cluster of the minimum number of clusters while or after the minimum number of clusters is determined, the determined minimum number of clusters and WD assignments being for a first spatial distribution of the plurality of WDs.

Deep learning-based user clustering in millimeter wave non-orthogonal multiple access communications

Systems and methods relating to estimating data symbols encoded in a received signal that has been transmitted at a faster than Nyquist rate. The present invention uses a heuristic method for non-convex problems and involves an input matrix and received samples from the received signal. These are preconditioned and the preconditioned input matrix is factorized. The method then iterates a three-step process that estimates the sequence of data symbols based on the current estimate, the preconditioned input matrix, the preconditioned samples vector, a multiplier vector, and an auxiliary vector. The process then calculates the next multiplier vector and the next auxiliary vector. If the result indicates a minimum as compared to the best estimate, then the result is used as the best estimate. Multiple iterations of the process are performed, and the multiple iterations are repeated for multiple random initializations of the estimate.

Detector for faster than nyquist transmitted data symbols

Satellites provide connectivity in remote and rural areas as well as providing applications and services elsewhere on earth and in space. Existing satellite networks will be increasingly augmented by ultra-dense deployments of interconnected satellites providing low Earth orbit (LEO) constellations. However, such satellites only offer short-term line-of-sight access requiring ongoing handovers during the duration of a terminal's access. Accordingly, to exploit these LEO constellations the inventors have established methodologies exploiting distributed massive multiple-input multiple-output technology for a user terminal to be connected to a cluster of LEO satellites. Further, distributed joint power allocation and handover management techniques are outlined for improving the power allocation and handover management processes in a cross-layer manner such that enhanced network throughput and reduced handover rate are provided whilst taking into account quality-of-service demands of terminals and the power capabilities of the LEO satellites.

Distributed multiple-input multiple-output low earth orbit satellite systems and methods

The subject application relates to telecommunication networks and more particularly, to a method and system for managing and allocating wireless network resources to optimize User satisfaction. One aspect of the invention is directed to a system comprising a wireless base station; a user device; and a wireless network connecting said wireless base-station to said user device; said wireless base station being operable: to employ a 'zone of tolerance' to model user satisfaction; and to respond to a request from said user device to access network resources, by allocating network resources based on said 'zone of tolerance' model. According to embodiments, there is provided a method apparatus for determining an encoding scheme for transmission of encoded data across a communications channel. The method includes determining the encoding scheme at a design Signal-to-Noise Ratio and evaluating a Frame Error Rate of the encoding scheme. If the FER is not within a target range, the method further includes modifying the encoding scheme until the evaluated FER is within the target range. There is further provided a method and apparatus for mapping bit labels to a plurality of symbols in a constellation, wherein the constellation are organisable into a plurality of sets and each bit label includes a plurality of bit positions. The method includes determining a distance metric between sets and merging pairs of sets according to the distance metric. The method further includes assigning a value to a bit position for bit labels of symbols in the merged set.

Space-time block codes (STBCs) is a known approach for using multiple transmit antennas to provide higher data rates and better reliability by exploiting spatial diversity. A method for long-term evolution (LTE) synchronization by a signal receiver in the presence of interference signals including providing multiple parallel adaptive filters to eliminate the contribution of an interference signal to a timing metric of an LTE signal; wherein coefficients of each of the parallel adaptive filters are determined using a linearly constrained minimum variance (LCMV) criterion to minimize output power of each filter subject to the LCMV criterion that preserves received signal vectors corresponding to all possible primary synchronization signal signatures; and wherein the LCMV criterion are updated iteratively using a recursive least squares (RLS) algorithm.

Embodiments are provided for a multi-objective scheme for solving a cell switch-off problem. The multi-objective solution seeks to minimize or reduce network energy consumption by switching off some of the cells in the network while allowing enough capacity according to traffic needs and quality of service requirement. An embodiment method includes determining, for each one of a plurality of established traffic profiles, a set of solutions with respect to a number of active cells from a plurality of cells in the network and an aggregate network capacity. The method further includes matching a given traffic profile to one of the established traffic profiles, and evaluating performances of the solutions corresponding to that traffic profile. A solution from the solutions is then selected in accordance with the evaluation. The selected solution indicates which of the cells in the wireless network to be switched off.
