An adjustable pedal device including (a) a pedal including a pivotal member and a pedal member, the pivotal member being supported by a support shaft disposed on a bracket such that the pivotal member is pivotable about the support shaft, the pedal member being disposed movably relative to the pivotal member in a plane perpendicular to the support shaft, the pedal member having an operating portion at which the pedal member is operated, (b) a guiding device including (i) a pair of guides and a pair of guide pieces which are provided on one and the other of the pivotal and pedal members and which engage each other, to guide a movement of the pedal member relative to the pivotal member, and (c) an adjusting device connecting the pivotal and pedal members and operable to effect the relative movement of the pedal and pivotal members and to hold these members at a desired relative position, and wherein each guide extends linearly, and each guide piece is linearly movable in sliding surface contact with the corresponding guide, and each guide pieces is disposed rotatably about a support pin perpendicular to the sliding plane, the adjusting device being connected to the pedal and pivotal members such that the adjusting device is rotatable relative to these members about respective two connecting pins perpendicular to the sliding plane.

An imaginary limit position is determined on the basis of a position where an overload condition is detected, and such imaginary limit position is stored. Subsequent to the storage, an extent of movement is limited to that defined by the limit position. An operational mode which re-establishes a stored position is provided. In response to the detection of an overload condition, a motor is reversed to move the attitude back through a small stroke, whereupon the motor is deenergized. When a manual switch is turned on, the motor is driven over an incremental time interval and is then deenergized temporarily. After a given time interval, the motor is again driven. Where a pluarlity of motors are driven simultaneously, the timing of initiating to drive each motor is displaced relative to each other by a small time increment during which a transient current occurs upon initiating the drive.

Apparatus for controlling attitude of vehicle mounted device

A rear suspension for a vehicle including a trailing arm and a link. The trailing arm has inner and outer connections spaced from each other widthwise of a car body and is connected to the car body by a bolt extending through each of bushings disposed in the respective connections. The link has two ends, one end thereof being connected to the car body through a first ball joint having the rotary center thereof disposed on a swinging axis of the trailing arm. The other end of the link is connected to the trailing arm through a second ball joint.

A screw-nut type driving mechanism having a rotatable screw shaft, a nut engaged with the screw shaft and a driven member secured to the nut. The nut has an axially tapered outer surface which is formed with external threads. The driven member has an internally threaded, axially tapered hole with which the nut is threadably engaged. A retaining plate is provided to hold the nut on the driven member to prevent rotation of the nut.

In a tilt steering equipment including a main bracket mounted to a vehicle body; an upper bracket with a steering wheel, which is pivoted at the main bracket around a tilt center; and a driving means supported by the main bracket to tilt the upper bracket against the main bracket, the driving means in fixed to the main bracket and has a drive center spaced from the tilt center and an engaging pin which rotates around the drive center. The upper bracket has an engaging slotted hole in which the engaging pin is inserted. According to the tilt steering equipment of this invention, the drive center of the driving means is spaced from the tilt center. Therefore, it is easy to assemble the equipment with high accuracy and a smaller torque is enough to tilt the upper bracket to the main bracket.

A fastening device for a tiltable steering shaft assembly of the type in which, when shifted into a remote position upwardly from a pre-selected angular position, the steering wheel is automatically returned to the pre-selected angular position and locked at the same position only by depression of the steering wheel. The fastening device comprises a first manual lever arranged to release the fastening device for permitting upward movement of the steering wheel to the remote position, and a second manual lever arranged to readjust the pre-selected angular position of the steering wheel in accordance with a user's physique, in which the first manual lever is cooperable with the second manual lever in operation of the latter to carry out readjustment of the pre-selected angular position of the steering wheel in a simple manner. The fastening device further includes a mechanism for avoiding unexpected trouble caused by an error in operation of the second manual lever.

A fastening device for a tiltable steering shaft assembly of the type in which when shifted into a remote position upwardly from a pre-selected angular position, the steering wheel is automatically returned to the pre-selected angular position and locked at the same position only by depression of the steering wheel. The fastening device comprises a first manual lever arranged to release lock of the fastening device for permitting upward movement of the steering wheel to the remote position, and a second manual lever arranged to readjust the pre-selected angular position of the steering wheel in accordance with a user's physique, in which the first manual lever is cooperable with the second manual lever in operation of the latter to carry out readjustment of the pre-selected angular position of the steering wheel in a simple manner.

In a fastening device for a tiltable steering assembly of the type in which the steering wheel can be tiltably adjusted into a number of selected driving positions in accordance with the driver's physique, the manual lever of the device is arranged to be moved upwardly to a predetermined angular position for effecting upward movement of the steering wheel into a remote position with respect to a pre-adjusted angular position and to be moved upwardly over the predetermined angular position for adjustment of the pre-adjusted angular position of the steering wheel. In the arrangement of the manual lever, the steering wheel is automatically returned to the pre-adjusted angular position and locked at the same position when depressed from the remote position.

Fastening device for tiltable steering assembly

A gearshift range indicating system for indicating the set range of an automatic transmission includes a driving pulley secured on a control shaft of a transmission gear shift unit and a driven pulley rotatably mounted on a steering stem connected with a steering wheel of an automobile. The driving pulley is operably connected to the driven pulley by a cable which enables transmission of rotary motion therebetween while permitting a certain degree of relative displacement between the driven and driving pulleys. An indicator device responsive to rotation of the driven pulley is provided in order to properly indicate the operating range of the automatic transmission in a manner which is free from the influence of change in the relative positioning between the driving pulley and the driven pulley, thereby providing an indicating system well suited for use in automobiles having telescoping and/or tilting steering devices.

In a remote-control gearshift mechanism for a vehicle of the type including a control shaft extended in parallel with a steering column and movable in the axial direction and rotatable about its axis by a gearshift lever, a linkage for transmitting the axial and rotary movements of said control shaft to a transmission, a first spring loaded over the lower portion of said control shaft for normally biasing said control shaft upward to its neutral position which corresponds to a position intermediate between the ends of the stroke of said control shaft in the axial direction, a second spring loaded over the upper portion of said control shaft for normally biasing said control shaft downward to its neutral position, and stopper means for limiting the spring action of said each spring independently of each other in such a manner that said control shaft may be prevented from moving past its neutral position, whereby shift-lever-action feeling may be improved.
