An operation and maintenance communications link is established between an antenna near parts component and transmitter and receiver of a transceiver site assembly. The transmitter and receiver are connected to a remote antenna by means of a radio frequency feeder supporting a plurality of communications channels. A radio transceiver is connected to the antenna near parts component. A communications connection comprising the operation and maintenance communications link is established between the radio frequency transceiver and the transmitter and receiver over the radio frequency feeder connected to the antenna using a selected one of the supported communications channels. Another implementation further utilizes an air interface connection supporting the selected communications channel to provide the operation and maintenance communications link.

The present invention relates to systems and methods for allocating channels in a radiotelephone system wherein local estimation of interference for a potential new connection is achieved by measuring interference on the available downlink channels at a plurality of locations within a cell. The measurements can be made, for example, by already connected mobile stations, mobile stations which are not connected, fixed measurement stations or any combination thereof.

A method for optimizing the use of channels, the changing of channels and handover procedures in a mobile telecommunications system for instance, wherein parameters belonging to the mobile telecommunications system generate the load values for the connections via different channels/base stations between subscribers in a public telephone network and mobile stations in the mobile telecommunications systems. Different kinds of parameters can be compared directly by means of the load values which are combined to provide a total load value for each connection. A first total load value is generated for a connection set-up between one of the subscribers and one of the mobile stations. The total load values for the connection are estimated for alternative channels/base stations and these total load values are compared with the first total load value. The system changes to the channel/base station that has the most favorable load value, on the basis of the comparison. The load values can also be used to optimize the resources within one or more base stations, so that the sum of the load values for the connections within one or more base stations will become the most advantageous.

Water dispersible and water soluble carbohydrate polymer compositions

A method for adaptively allocating channels for connections between base station and mobiles is disclosed. The channels accessible to the base stations for establishing connections with mobiles are ranked in at least one priority list based on transmission loss intervals. Each channel is ranked in the priority list according to their success at previous connections. The amount of power required for a channel allocated from a list associated with a low transmission loss can be set lower thereby reducing the interference associated with the channel and increasing system capacity. A self planned system evolves where channels are allocated for connections based on their past connection history. Thus, the selection of channels which may interfere with calls in neighboring cells or which may suffer substantial interference from a neighboring base is avoided.

Segregation method of dynamic channel allocation in a mobile radio system

A method of effecting handover in a mobile telephone system comprising fixed base stations and mobile stations. The system includes several layers of radio cells, where a cell in a given layer covers several cells in a nearest underlying or subordinate layer. A mobile station moving in a microcell may find it difficult to handover to another microcell in the same cell layer, when the signal strength of the established connection in the first microcell is rapidly weakened. No information concerning the target base station can be transmitted. According to the proposed method, handover is effected to a cell in the nearest overlying cell layer, a so-called umbrella cell, either permanently (the mobile is moving quickly) or temporarily (the mobile is moving slowly). In the latter case, handover is made back to a microcell. The handover command is either transmitted from the base station of the microcell having elevated power, or from the target base station.

Allocation of channels using interference estimation

The invention relates to a method for transmitting in a time multiplex radio communication system, for instance, a GSM-type mobile telephony system, different commands from a movable station to a fixed station with respect to the selection of transmitter antenna in the fixed station. Each transmission sequence from the movable station includes a synchronizing word which consists of a predetermined number of binary bits. The different commands are transmitted by using different synchronizing words in dependence on the command to be transmitted. The movable station has access to at least two different synchronizing words. The synchronizing words used in addition to a standard synchronizing word are formed by the binary bits from the standard synchronizing word being shifted laterally to mutually different extents and/or in mutually different directions in order to generate different, new synchronizing words. In this way, there is formed in the receiver of the fixed station an impulse response having a pulse which occurs at different time points depending on which synchronizing word was used by the movable station.
