A method for installing guide rails of an elevator in a hoistway includes installing one or more guide rails to form a vertical guide rail line; positioning an elevator car at a first position in the hoistway; placing a plurality of guide rails to stand in an upright position on the elevator car such that each of the guide rails rests on the floor structure of the elevator car; supporting the upper half of each of the guide rails laterally on the elevator car for blocking its lateral movement relative to the elevator car; hoisting the elevator car in the hoistway upwards to a second position, along the guide rail line; and installing a guide rail belonging to said plurality into the elevator hoistway on top of the guide rail line for extending the guide rail line vertically, thereby making the guide rail being installed to form the uppermost section of the guide rail line. An installation arrangement of guide rails is provided for implementing the method.

A method of assembling an elevator car within an elevator hoistway, including installing a car frame onto the elevator hoistway, attaching a car base to the car frame, the car base forming a floor of the elevator car, setting spacers on a top surface of the car base, placing a car roof onto the spacers, the car roof including a first bracket and a second bracket, each bracket including a safety latch assembly, lifting the car roof until to a top position where each safety latch assembly engages a respective top surface of the car frame to fix the car roof to the car frame, the installing wall panels to the car base and to the car roof. As the car roof is lifted, the safety latches travel along a car frame structural vertical member and are maintained in a tensioned state by springs.

The current disclosure relates to a guide rail alignment method comprising attaching and aligning a first pair of elevator car guide rail sections in an elevator shaft and mounting a vertically moveable base between the guide rail sections. After the first pair of elevator car guide rail sections has been aligned, a target member comprising a target point is removably attached to a guide rail section, and a positioning light source able to produce a beam of collimated light is attached to the vertically moveable base, so that a beam of collimated light emitted in a predetermined direction by the positioning light source meets the target point of the target member. The position of the light source is then used to align a guide rail section of a second pair of guide rail sections. The current disclosure further relates to an elevator guide rail alignment arrangement.

A counterweight module, a locking element, a counterweight and a method for assembling a counterweight are disclosed. The counterweight module includes a first part and a second part, between which a straight joint is arranged at right angle in relation to the longitudinal direction of the counterweight module. The counterweight locking element can be used to secure the counterweight modules into a counterweight frame. In the method, the counterweight is filled with balancing modules starting from the bottom of the frame.

The invention relates to a method and apparatus for adjusting landing door rollers in an elevator comprising at least an elevator car having at least a car door, a door operating assembly and a landing door coupler with its two vanes, and the elevator comprising an elevator shaft equipped with a landing door at each landing level. For adjusting the landing door rollers the mutual horizontal distance of the vanes of the landing door coupler is copied mechanically into the location further up in the elevator car than the location of the vanes.

The invention relates to an overspeed governor tension sheave assembly in an elevator comprising at least an elevator car arranged to run along the guide rails and controlled by a speed governor assembly that is coupled to the elevator car through a governor rope forming a closed loop running over a governor sheave, and under a governor tension sheave being a part of the overspeed governor tension sheave assembly. Method and system for installing the guide rails (), such as the car guide rails and/or counterweight guide rails, in an elevator shaft (). The guide rails are installed by assembly in phases starting from the bottom () of the elevator shaft by placing one on top of the other guide rail sections (. . . ) that are shorter than the whole length of the guide rail and by aligning the guide rail sections perpendicularly by means of the laser beam produced by a direction laser (). The direction laser () is moved upwards along with progressive assembly of the guide rail. As assembly progresses the direction laser () is supported in the proximity of the top end of the topmost vertically aligned guide rail section at the time for aligning the next guide rail section to be installed in the vertical direction. These phases are repeated until the entire guide rail is assembled. The system comprises an alignment appliance (), which can be supported against a guide rail section and fixed to it by means of a permanent magnet (). In addition the alignment appliance contains an aligning element (), at which the laser beam produced by the direction laser can be directed.

A method in the installation of an elevator includes arranging a movable platform structure in the bottom end of the elevator hoistway with a temporary hoisting appliance in the elevator hoistway. The movable platform structure is lifted in the elevator hoistway with the temporary hoisting appliance. The final hoisting machine of the final elevator is installed from the platform structure and the final hoisting roping of the elevator is installed. The movable platform structure can be the final elevator car or at least a part of the final elevator car.

A method for installing the hoisting roping of an elevator, the elevator including at least an elevator car that moves in essentially a vertical direction in the elevator hoistway, a hoisting machine, a traction sheave, and at least a plurality of diverting pulleys includes fitting a plurality of hoisting ropes to pass around a plurality of diverting pulleys as well as the traction sheave, the hoisting ropes, after the installation, forming the hoisting roping of the elevator. An elevator may include an elevator car, one or more hoisting ropes, a traction sheave, an overspeed governor, at least one safety gear, a locking mechanism, and guide rails. The car may be suspended by the one or more hoisting ropes. The traction sheave may move the car using the one or more hoisting ropes. The at least one safety gear and locking mechanism may be fitted in conjunction with the car. The overspeed governor may be configured to activate and release, via a linkage, the at least one safety gear during operation of the elevator. The locking mechanism may be configured to activate and release, by operatively acting on the linkage, the at least one safety gear during installation, maintenance, or installation and maintenance of the elevator. When activated, the at least one safety gear may engage one of the guide rails to lock the car in place.

Roping method and apparatus for replacing, installing and/or re-roping the hoisting rope of a traction sheave elevator, said elevator having an elevator car, which is at least partially suspended on a set of hoisting ropes, said set of ropes comprising one or more parallel ropes. The elevator car is moved by means of the ropes. In the method, a rope feed apparatus () acting on the hoisting rope is used to feed a new rope to the elevator and/or to pull out a possible old hoisting rope to make place for the new rope. The rope feed apparatus() comprises at least a base () with at least one feed disc () mounted on it, which feed disc () engages the hoisting rope and to which feed disc () the hoisting rope can be fitted, at least one guide roller () for keeping the hoisting rope in position on the feed disc (), a tightening element () for moving the feed disc () relative to the guide roller () and tightening it in position on the base (), and in addition at least one electric motor () fitted in the apparatus to rotate the feed disc ().

Roping method and apparatus

A template for accurately positioning structural components of elevator(s) in a elevator hoistway(s), or of elevator hoistway walls or partitions in a building, includes a thin, flexible sheet of material adapted to be placed on a floor of elevator hoistway(s), has indicia on the flexible sheet of material to show locations, and points of attachment, of elevator structural components which are to be installed in the elevator hoistway(s). Tensioning elements attachable to the flexible sheet of material may be used to square up the flexible sheet of material. The template may be made by forming a thin, flexible sheet of material, providing indicia on the flexible sheet of material, and by providing tensioning elements to square up the flexible sheet of material. The flexible template may be placed on the floor of the elevator hoistway(s), squared, and the squared up template used as a guide to install the major elevator structural components. The template may, alternatively, be made of a substantially rigid, e.g., corrugated, sheet material and employ interconnected sections.
