A method for measuring the water level of a reservoir, a larger river and an underground water and an apparatus thereof comprises a waveguide tube selected in a predetermined length, on the upper portion of which a sonic pulse generator is mounted, and a plurality of sonic receivers (first, second, third . . . nth), such as a microphone, arranged at an interval l from each another, in which the sonic pulse generator generates sonic impulses in a predetermined period, the receivers receive impulses divided into advancing waves and reflecting waves in turns, these impulses are amplified/wave-shaped to be applied to a microprocessor, and the microprocessor measures the time interval t.sub.1 between the advancing wave and the reflecting wave received by first sonic receiver and the time interval t.sub.n-1 between first sonic receiver and the n-1th sonic receiver located close to the water surface so as to calculate the water level L. Also, when the water level L is measured on the slope surface of a reservoir, a larger river, etc., a ball type float is inserted in the waveguide tube. In order to measure the water level of the underground water, a supporting rod, which has a plurality of sonic receivers (first, second, third . . . nth) are fixed at a predetermined interval l, is inserted into an underground water observing tube instead of the waveguide tube.

Measuring method of a wide range level and an apparatus thereof

For the apparatus and method to measure the water depth and level using a gas bubble type level meter, the measurement pipe for water column pressure is composed of plastic pipes of inside diameter of 2-4 mm; two measurement pipes for water column pressure are bounded that the elevation difference between the ends of two measurement pipes for water column pressure is .DELTA.h; the upper ends of two measurement pipes for water column pressure are connected to the buffer tank using valves; the pressure sensor to measure the gas pressure in the buffer tank and the temperature sensor to measure the gas temperature in the buffer tank are installed; the supplying pipe of compressed gas with a valve is connected to the buffer tank; the outputs of pressure sensor and temperature sensor are sent to the apparatus to calculate the specific gravity, water depth and level; the level calculating apparatus contains an apparatus to convert displayed and calculated values of level to electrical or coded signals, and an apparatus to store the elevations of the upper and lower ends of the measurement pipes for water column pressure, elevation difference between the lower ends of the measurements pipes for water column pressure, elevation of reference point for level measurement, pressures and temperatures of compressed gas used at the reference state and the specific gravity of gas at the reference state; for case of automatic measurement, the valve controller is connected with valves which the valve connected to a long measurement pipe for water column pressure is opened, the valve to supply the compressed gas is opened, the valve connected to a long measurement pipe for water column pressure is closed and the valve connected to a short measurement pipe for water column pressure is opened; Then, this is the measurement method to measure water depth and level with significantly decreased water depth measurement error through the compensation of air (gas) column pressure and specific gravity of water (liquid). When measuring the water column pressure with submerged pressure sensors, the level is measured through the measurement of specific gravity of water by installing the two pressure sensors at the interval of .DELTA.h.

Level measurement method using measurements of water column pressure

An ultrasonic flow measuring method and apparatus thereof comprises a plurality of ultrasonic vibrator apparatus mounted around the peripheral edge of a large caliber pipe at predetermined intervals, in which the ultrasonic vibrator apparatus are disposed at intervals of l=2R/(n+1) on one side radius R and at intervals of l'=R/(n+1)on the opposite side radius as well as operated in an alternating sequential arrangement in order to avoid the interference with one another, the ultrasonic vibrator apparatus are mounted on the outer wall of the pipe by being inserted into a hole of the pipe wall at a predetermined angle to the center line of the pipe, and the ultrasonic vibrator apparatus comprises a body inserted into the pipe wall; a first chamber constituted as a part of the body, for receiving an ultrasonic vibrator; and a second chamber constituted as a part of the body, for receiving a block having an acoustic resistance identical to that of the liquid flowing in the large caliber pipe to be measured, in which the ultrasonic vibrator and the block are integrated with each other, and the block is fitted into the body or supported in the body by means of a supporter, the upper surface of which is flush with the inner surface of the pipe. The ultrasonic flow measuring apparatus comprises an ultrasonic flow measuring circuit, which enables the delay time and the actual propagation distance of the ultrasonic pulses in the liquid to be precisely measured and corrected, if necessary.

Ultrasonic flow measuring method and apparatus thereof

A local river flow velocity measuring method and apparatus therefor comprises a flow velocity meter and a flow velocity measuring circuit, in which the flow velocity meter includes a plurality of ultrasonic vibrators mounted at the apexes A, B and C of a right angled triangle which sets a base AC, a vertical side BC and a oblique side AB, in which the distance of the oblique side AB is L, the height of the vertical side BC is h and an angle {(.PSI.BAC)=.PSI.} is .PSI., the propagation time of ultrasonic pulses from the apexes C to B is measured, and an angle .PSI.+.alpha. formed between the flow velocity vector V and the vertical side BC and an angle .PSI.-.beta. formed between the flow velocity vector V and the oblique side AB are indirectly measured, thereby calculating the resulting flow velocity.
