A method of resetting a plasma display panel includes a wall charge accumulation operation and a wall charge distribution operation. In the wall charge accumulation operation, the voltage applied to second display electrode lines is gradually increased to reach a first voltage. In the wall charge distribution operation, while the voltage applied to the first display electrode lines is maintained at a second voltage lower than the first voltage, the voltage applied to the second display electrode lines is gradually decreased to reach a third voltage lower than the second voltage and address electrode lines are electrically floated.

Methods for resetting and driving plasma display panels in which address electrode lines are electrically floated

A scan electrode drive of an apparatus for driving a plasma display panel includes a switching output circuit, a reset/sustain circuit, an upper scan circuit, a lower scan circuit, a first switching circuit, and a second switching circuit. The switching output circuit includes upper transistors, lower transistors each paired with corresponding upper transistor, and common output lines of the respective upper and lower transistor pairs, and the common output lines are connected to the scan electrode lines, respectively. The reset/sustain circuit outputs the driving signals during the reset period and the display-sustain period. The first switching circuit connects or disconnects the upper common power line of all of the upper transistors of the switching output circuit to or from an output terminal of the reset/sustain circuit. The second switching circuit connects or disconnects the lower common power line of all of the lower transistors of the switching output circuit to or from the output terminal of the reset/sustain circuit.

In a method of resetting a plasma display panel including a front substrate and a rear substrate separated from each other and facing each other, in which a first electrode line and second display electrode line are formed parallel to each other on the front substrate and address electrode lines are formed perpendicular to the first electrode line and the second display electrode lines, a voltage applied to the first display electrode lines is gradually increased up to a first voltage. Then, a voltage applied to the second display electrode lines is gradually increased up to a second voltage higher than the first voltage while the voltage applied to the first display electrode lines is gradually increased up to a third voltage lower than the first voltage. The voltage applied to the first display electrode lines is maintained at the first voltage while the voltage applied to the second display electrode lines is gradually decreased down to a fourth voltage lower than the third voltage.

Method for resetting plasma display panel for improving contrast

A method and apparatus for driving a plasma display panel in which pairs of sustain electrodes lines respectively including X-electrode lines and Y-electrode lines that are alternately arranged parallel with each other are disposed to be orthogonal to address electrode lines, and discharge cells are defined by intersections between the sustain electrodes and the address electrode lines. In the method, a unit frame as a display period is divided into a plurality of subfields to realize time-division grayscale display, and the individual subfields include a reset period, an address period, and a sustain period. The method includes maintaining the Y-electrode lines at a reference level during the reset period and the sustain period; and addressing the Y-electrode lines by biasing the Y-electrode lines to a first level and simultaneously, sequentially applying a scan signal of the reference level to the Y-electrode lines during the address period.
