One embodiment of the present invention provides an ultra-thick structural steel having excellent brittle crack initiation resistance, and a manufacturing method therefor, the ultra-thick structural steel comprising, by wt %, 0.03-0.08% of C, 1.6-2.2% of Mn, 0.6-1.3% of Ni, 0.005-0.03% of Nb, 0.005-0.02% of Ti, 0.1-0.4% of Cu, 100 ppm or less of P, 40 ppm or less of S, 1.5 ppm or less of H, and the balance of Fe and other inevitable impurities, wherein the sum of acicular ferrite and granular bainite in the microstructure is 80% or more by area fraction, the sum of the total length of cracks having a size of 30 μm or more per unit area of 1 mm2 in a ±1 mm region on the basis of the thickness center of the steel is 130 μm or less, and the yield strength is 500 MPa or more.

Ultra-thick structural steel having excellent brittle crack initiation resistance, and manufacturing method therefor

An ultra-thick steel excellent in brittle crack arrestability according to an aspect of the present invention comprises, by weight, C: 0.02-0.07%, Mn: 1.8-2.2%, Ni: 0.7-1.2%, Nb: 0.005-0.02%, Ti: 0.005-0.02%, Cu: 0.1-0.4%, P: 0.01% or less, S: 0.004% or less, and the balance of Fe and inevitable impurities, wherein crystal grains that have a high angle grain boundary of 15 degrees or more, as measured by EBSD, may have an average grain size of 15 μm or less in the t/4−(3*t)/8 region (wherein t represents a thickness of the steel, the same below).

Ultra-thick steel excellent in brittle crack arrestability and manufacturing method therefor

Disclosed are a high-strength ultra-thick steel material and a method for manufacturing same. The high-strength ultra-thick steel material comprises in weight % 0.04-0.1% of C, 0.05-0.5% of Si, 0.01-0.05% of Al, 1.6-2.2% of Mn, 0.5-1.2% of Ni, 0.005-0.050% of Nb, 0.005-0.03% of Ti and 0.2-0.6% of Cu, 100 ppm or less of P and 40 ppm or less of S with a balance of Fe, and inevitable impurities, and comprises, in a subsurface area up to t/10 (t hereafter being referred to as the thickness of the steel material), bainite of 90 area % or greater (including 100 area %) as microstructures. And the particle size of crystallites having a high inclination angle boundary of 15&#xb0; or higher measured by EBSD is 10 &#x3bc;m or less (not including 0 &#x3bc;m).

Ultra-thick steel material having excellent surface part NRL-DWT properties and method for manufacturing same

Disclosed are a high-strength ultra-thick steel material and a method for manufacturing same. The high-strength ultra-thick steel material comprises in weight % 0.04-0.1% of C, 1.2-2.0% of Mn, 0.2-0.9% of Ni, 0.005-0.04% of Nb, 0.005-0.03% of Ti and 0.1-0.4% of Cu, 100 ppm or less of P and 40 ppm or less of S with a balance of Fe, and inevitable impurities, and comprises, in a subsurface area up to t/10 (t hereafter being referred to as the thickness of the steel material), polygonal ferrite of 50 area % or greater (including 100 area %) and bainite of 50 area % or less (including 0 area %) as microstructures.

Cryogenic steel plate and method for manufacturing same

Low-temperature steel material having excellent toughness in welding portion thereof and manufacturing method therefor

Provided are a low-temperature steel plate having excellent impact toughness, and a method for manufacturing same, the low-temperature steel plate comprising, in wt %, 0.02-0.08% C, 6.0-7.5% Ni, 0.5-0.9% Mn, 0.03-0.15% Si, 0.02-0.3% Mo, and 0.1-0.3% Cr, and 50 ppm or less of P, 10 ppm or less of S, and the remainder in Fe and various unavoidable impurities, and the microstructure at &#xbc;t (t: thickness of the steel plate) location of the steel plate comprising, in % surface area, 10-35% tempered bainite, 3-15% residual austenite, and the remainder in tempered martensite, and having granularity of 10 &#x3bc;m or less of high angle grain boundaries at 15&#xb0; or greater as measured by Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD).

Low-temperature steel plate having excellent impact toughness, and method for manufacturing same

Improved steel compositions and methods of making the same are provided. The present disclosure provides advantageous wear resistant steel. More particularly, the present disclosure provides high manganese (Mn) steel having enhanced wear resistance, and methods for fabricating high manganese steel compositions having enhanced wear resistance. The advantageous steel compositions/components of the present disclosure improve one or more of the following properties: wear resistance, ductility, crack resistance, erosion resistance, fatigue life, surface hardness, stress corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance, and/or environmental cracking resistance. In general, the present disclosure provides high manganese steels tailored to resist wear and/or erosion.

Enhanced wear resistant steel and methods of making the same

Provided are high-strength steel having superior brittle crack arrestability and a production method therefor. The high-strength steel has high yield strength and superior brittle crack arrestability.

High-strength steel having superior brittle crack arrestability, and production method therefor

Provided are high-strength steel having superior brittle crack arrestability and a production method therefor. The high-strength steel has high yield strength and superior brittle crack arrestability.

Provided is a steel having excellent weldability and impact toughness in a welding zone comprising: by weight (wt.) %, carbon (C): 0.1% to 0.3%, manganese (Mn): 11% to 13%, iron (Fe) as a residual component thereof, and other inevitable impurities, and positive and negative segregation zones in a layered form. The positive segregation zone comprises austenite and epsilon martensite, and the negative segregation zone comprises, by area fraction, epsilon martensite of less than 5% and alpha martensite.

Steel having excellent weldability and impact toughness of welding zone

The present invention relates to a high strength austenitic-based steel with remarkable toughness of a welding heat-affected zone and a preparation method therefor. One embodiment of the present invention provides: a high strength austenitic-based steel with remarkable toughness of a welding heat-affected zone, comprising 0.8-1.5 wt % of C, 15-22 wt % of Mn, 5 wt % or less of Cr (except 0), and the balance of Fe and other inevitable impurities, and further comprising at least one of the following (a) and (b), wherein the microstructure of a welding heat-affected zone comprises 90% or more of austenite by volume fraction; and a preparation method therefor. (a) Mo: 0.1-1% and B: 0.001-0.02% (b) Ti: 0.01-0.3% and N: 0.003-0.1%.
