A process for modifying natural rubber and modified natural rubber with improved processing performance. The process for modifying natural rubber includes at least the following process steps: comminuting the natural rubber in a first process step; blending and purifying the natural rubber in a second process step; further comminuting the natural rubber in a third process step; and, drying the natural rubber in a fourth process step. The modified natural rubber is modified by at least four process steps.

Process for modifying natural rubber, and modified natural rubber

A rubber mixture with improved abrasion with improved abrasion performance, in particular for pneumatic tires, has the following composition: from 30 to 100 phr of at least one diene rubber; from 0.1 to 10 phr of at least one vulcanization accelerator selected from the group consisting of: thiazole accelerators, mercapto accelerators, sulfenamide accelerators, guanidine accelerators, thiuram accelerators, dithiocarbamate accelerators, amine accelerators, thioureas, and/or other accelerators; and a vulcanization system of sulfur comprising elemental sulfur, sulfur donor and silane between 0.25 and 0.08 moles per 100 parts by weight of the rubber elastometer, whereby the free sulfur contributes in the range of 0 to 70%, the sulfur donor contributes in the range of 5 to 30%, and the silane contributes in the range of 20 to 95%.

Rubber mixture with improved abrasion

Sulfur-vulcanizable rubber mixture without aromatic process oils, in particular for the tread rubber of vehicle pneumatic tires, containing at least one diene rubber, carbon black, mineral oil plasticizer, and resin. A vehicle pneumatic tire with a tread rubber that is composed at least partially of a rubber mixture of this type vulcanized with sulfur is also disclosed. To improve the chipping and chunking behavior, the rubber mixture can contain at least one diene rubber, 5-100 phr of at least one carbon black with an iodine adsorption number of 100-180 g/kg and a DBP number of 100-150 cm/100 g, 5-80 phr of at least one mineral oil plasticizer that has a content of polycyclic aromatic compounds determined with the DMSO extract according to the IP 346 method of less than 3% by weight relative to the total weight of the mineral oil plasticizer, and 5-30 phr of at least one resin with an average molecular weight determined with GPC of less than 400 g/mol and a softening point (ring and ball according to ASTM E 28) of less than 40&#xb0; C.
