In accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, the light emitting device includes a first light emitting module and a plurality of second light emitting modules. The first light emitting module includes a first side along a first direction, and a second side along the first direction. The direction from the first side to the second side is along a second direction that intersects with the first direction. The plurality of second light emitting modules are lined up along the second direction. The direction from a first emission region which includes the plurality of second light emitting modules to the first light emitting module is along the first direction. The first emission region includes a third side along the first direction and a fourth side along the first direction. The direction from the third side to the first side is along the first direction. The direction from the fourth side to the second side is along the first direction.

Light emitting device

A light emitting device includes: first and second conductive members disposed on an upper surface of a substrate; and a light emitting element disposed above a portion of an upper surface of a first electrode layer and a portion of an upper surface of a second electrode layer, above the spacer region. The upper surface of the first electrode layer and the upper surface of the second electrode layer above spacer region are located lower than the upper surface of the first electrode layer above the first conductive member and the upper surface of the second electrode layer above the second conductive member, and a reflectance of the first conductive member and the second to light emitted from the light emitting element is higher than reflectance of the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer to light emitted from the light emitting element.

Light emitting device having reduced thickness and increased light-reflectivity

Low frequency drive is performed that provides, after a charging period for refreshing a screen, a pause period for pausing the refresh. The length of the charging period is, for example, one frame and the length of the pause period is, for example, 59 frames. When new image data IMD is transmitted from a host to an LCD driver IC during the pause period, an interrupt process where the pause period is allowed to transition to the charging period is performed immediately thereafter. By performing the interrupt process, without waiting for the pause period with the predetermined length to end, the next charging period where refresh based on the new image data IMD is to be performed starts.

Drive control device, display device including the same, and drive control method

An object of the invention is to provide a display device and a driving method thereof, in which uniformity of a video image displayed after charge sharing does not deteriorate. In a first horizontal period, a positive voltage and a negative voltage according to a video signal are alternately applied to source signal lines, and then, reset voltages of +5V and &#x2212;5V are respectively applied to source signal lines. As a result, the voltages of the source signal lines become +5V or &#x2212;5V. In this state, when the source signal lines to which +5V and &#x2212;5V are applied are short-circuited in the beginning of a second horizontal period, charge sharing is performed between the source signal lines, and the voltages of these source signal lines become 0V. Subsequently, when the voltage according to the video signal is applied, the liquid crystal display device can display a color video image having reduced display unevenness and high uniformity.

Display device and driving method thereof

In a pixel memory portion of a display device, as corresponding to each pixel memory unit, there are provided a flip-flop, a voltage selection portion, which selects either white display voltage or black display voltage in accordance with an output signal from the flip-flop, and a liquid crystal capacitance, which reflects the voltage selected by the voltage selection portion in the display state of the pixel that corresponds to the flip-flop. Moreover, the flip-flops respectively included in the pixel memory units within the pixel memory portion are connected in series, forming a shift register.

Display device

A normal display portion, in which image display is performed by typical active-matrix drive, and a memory display portion, in which image display is performed by memory drive are provided on a substrate which defines a liquid crystal panel. Each pixel in the memory display portion is shaped so as to include a curve or a side not parallel to either gate bus lines or source bus lines. A plurality of pixel memory units, each including a flip-flop, are provided so as to correspond to their respective pixels in the memory display portion. Display data is provided to the pixel memory unit that corresponds to the first stage of a shift register which is constituted by connecting the flip-flops in the plurality of pixel memory units in series.

A liquid crystal display device includes a display panel, a parallax barrier, and a spacer. The display panel includes a display area in which an image is displayed and a display surrounding area located around the display area. The parallax barrier includes a separation area and a separation surrounding area located around the separation area. The image displayed on the display panel is separated by parallax in the separation area. The parallax barrier is attached to the display panel with a space between the separation surrounding area of the parallax barrier and the display surrounding area of the display panel. The spacer is arranged in the space. The spacer is configured to define a distance between the display surrounding area of the display panel and the separation surrounding area of the parallax barrier.

This liquid crystal display device allows outputs from RS-FF circuits (to) and switch circuits (to), which function as a shift register, to be provided as scanning signals that are selectively activated during odd and even scanning line selection periods, by simply changing the potential of an enable signal (EN) (i.e., by simply providing an EN signal line), which achieves interlacing drive that allows a reduction in the number of polarity inversions, thereby making it possible to reduce power consumption and a wiring area for control lines and achieve simple control which allows circuit simplification, resulting in a reduced frame area and a display panel which is compact as a whole.

Scanning signal line drive circuit and display device equipped with same

A plurality of scanning signal lines GLn divided into groups, and each group is made up of three scanning signal lines GLnR, GLnG and GLnB, and a plurality of pixels are divided into pixel blocks, and each pixel block is made up of three pixels PR (n, m), PG (n, m) and PB (n, m) respectively connected to the scanning signal lines GLnR, GLnG and GLnB. These pixels PR (n, m), PG (n, m) and PB (n, m) are connected to a common data signal line SLm. To the scanning signal lines GLnR, GLnG, GLnB, scanning pulses are sequentially outputted to the scanning signal lines GLnR, GLnG and GLnB from shift registers SRnR, SRnG and SRnB, and video signals for R, G and B are outputted to the data signal line SLm from a driver IC by time division.

Image display apparatus

An ambient light sensor includes a first stack of at least two photodiodes, wherein a cathode of one of the at least two photodiodes is electrically connected to an anode of another of the at least two photodiodes. The ALS further includes a bias source for providing a bias voltage to the first stack, and at least one switch electrically connected to the first stack. The at least one switch is operative to periodically apply the bias voltage to and remove the bias voltage from the first diode stack.

Apparatus and method for preventing charge pumping in series connected diode stacks

An occupying area of a digital system signal line driver circuit in an image display device is large and this hinders the miniaturization of the display device. A memory circuit and a D/A converter circuit in the signal line driver circuit are commonly used for n ('n' is a natural number equal to or larger than 2) signal lines. One horizontal scanning period is divided into n periods and the memory circuit and the D/A converter circuit each perform processing for different signal lines during each of the divided periods. Thus, all the signal lines can be driven. Therefore, the number of memory circuits and the number of D/A converter circuits in the signal line driver circuit can be reduced to one n-th in a conventional case.

Image display device and driving method thereof

A level shift circuit includes first and second level shifters which respectively output first and second output signals that are produced by level shifting two kinds of input clock signals whose high level periods do not overlap. The level shift circuit also includes control transistors and control lines which, together, prevent a feedthrough current from flowing into the second level shifter when the first output signal is high level, and prevent a feedthrough current from flowing into the first level shifter when the second output signal is high level, so as to suspend the level shift operation of the first and second level shifters. With the level shift circuit, power consumption during a specific time period in a non-active period of the clock signal can be eliminated, where the specific time period of one clock signal is the active period of the other clock signal.

Level shifter circuit and display device provided therewith

In one embodiment of the present invention, the present shift register is a shift register provided in a display device by which a partial-screen display is available. The shift register includes a shift stopping circuit that is provided in an in-between stage, and stops operation of the shift register between a first stage and a last stage of the shift register in partial-screen display. The shift register also includes a circuit that is provided in a stage other than the in-between stage in such a manner that the circuit does not perform signal processing but serves as a signal path. The circuit is same as the shift stopping circuit in configuration. The foregoing allows improvement in display quality of the display device employing the present shift register.

Shift register, circuit driving display device, and display device

A driving circuit of a display device is disclosed in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention creates a non-display area on a display section of the display device so that a partial-screen display becomes available. The driving circuit includes a shift register and a signal processing circuit that processes a signal tapped off from the shift register. In partial-screen display, the signal processing circuit interrupts a signal tapped off from a predetermined stage of the shift register. This makes it possible to realize a driving circuit of a display device by which a high-quality display is possible with a small circuit area.
