Provided is a down-proof woven fabric which is highly effective to prevent leakage of down from a seam of a product, even having a low cover factor, the woven fabric containing a single yarn having a convex portion and a concave portion in a cross section, in which an air permeability is 0.1 cm/cm&#xb7;s or more and 2.0 cm/cm&#xb7;s or less; a total fineness is 5 dtex or more and 80 dtex or less; a total cover factor of a warp and a weft is 1500 or more and 2200 or less; a hole is formed in the woven fabric with a sewing machine needle having a cross-sectional diameter (thickness of a main body of the sewing machine needle) of 1.00 mm, and in an area having a radius of 1.5 mm about the hole, a total number of warps and wefts that are displaced by 0.08 mm or more with the sewing machine needle is 3 or less at 15 minutes after the sewing machine needle is pulled out from the woven fabric; and the following characteristics:

Woven fabric

A woven fabric that is advantageously used for sportswear, and has a high tear strength, maintains a low air-permeability, and has a good abrasion resistance while the fabric is lightweight and thin. The woven fabric comprises a synthetic multifilament comprising a modified monofilament having a filament transverse cross-section of a substantially quadrilateral shape, wherein: the synthetic multifilament has a total fineness 5 to 60 dtex; the modified monofilament has a single yarn fineness of 1.0 to 7.5 dtex; the woven fabric includes the synthetic multifilament in an amount of 45% or more by mass relative to 100% by mass of the woven fabric; and an average contact length where the modified monofilament touches a modified monofilament adjacent thereto is 8 to 40 &#x3bc;m on a cross-section in a direction perpendicular to the synthetic multifilament.

Thin woven fabric

An object of the present invention is to provide a highly air-permeable woven fabric whose air permeability does not easily deteriorate even after repetitive washing and which has a good fabric quality. The woven fabric of the present invention comprises warp threads constituted by substantially quadrilateral shaped filaments and weft threads constituted by substantially quadrilateral shaped filaments. The warp threads and the weft threads overlap each other in an alternating manner forming crossover points comprising front threads and back threads, such that the warp threads and the weft threads alternate constituting the front threads. The crossover points comprise first crossover points and second crossover points. The first crossover points are the crossover points where the substantially quadrilateral shaped filaments constituting the front threads are aligned in a line. The second crossover points are the crossover points where at least 60% of the substantially quadrilateral shaped filaments constituting the front threads are aligned in a line. The rest of the substantially quadrilateral shaped filaments constituting the front threads overlap above and below in a thickness direction of the woven fabric, wherein, in a structure constituting five warp threads, six weft threads, and 30 crossover points, the total number of the first crossover points among thirty crossover points is not less than 10% and not more than 90%.

Highly air-permeable woven fabric resistant to washing

Provided is a woven fabric which is suitable for use as a covering fabric for down garments, down jackets, bedclothes, sleeping bags, etc. The woven fabric is lightweight and thin, has a high tear strength, and can retain low air permeability even after laundering. The woven fabric is constituted of synthetic multifilament yarns. The woven fabric is characterized in that at least one side thereof has been calendered and the monofilaments in at least part of the synthetic multifilament yarns have been thereby compressed in a stacked state. The woven fabric is further characterized in that the monofilaments are fibers having an unusual cross-section, the degree of unusualness of the cross section as determined before calendering being 2.0-6.0, that the synthetic multifilament yarns have a fineness of 7-44 dtex, and that the woven fabric has a cover factor of 1,300-2,200.

Provided is a fabric that is favorably used for a side cloth of a down wear, a down jacket, a futon, a sleeping bag or some other, and that is light, thin and high in tear strength and can further keep a low air permeability after washed. The high-density fabric of the present invention that can attain the purpose is a fabric including a synthetic fiber that has a fineness of 28 dtex or less, and having a total cover factor ranging from 1700 to 2200. In this fabric, multifilaments are present in each of which monofilaments are arranged in the form of two layers in at least one direction of warp and weft directions. Furthermore, the fabric has a cover factor ranging from 700 to 900 in at least one direction of the warp and weft directions which has the multifilaments present.
