A connector has a retainer which is insertable through one side surface of a housing . The retainer is provided with forked locking arms. The width and/or thickness of partial locking arms is set smaller than the full locking arms to thereby set the elastic forces of the partial locking arms smaller than those of the full locking arms

Connector

Terminal hardware for a flat-type conductor is provided which can provide a high contact pressure between the terminal hardware and the conductor and a superior holding force against a tension tending to separate the terminal hardware from the conductor. At a terminal end of the flat-type conductor, the conductor is exposed on an upper surface. A base plate is formed to extend from a rear end of the terminal hardware, and a top plate is provided so as to face the base plate and be capable of being opened and closed. Two pairs of crimping portions are provided forwardly and rearwardly on the base plate in a longitudinal direction of the base plate. Further, both the base plate and the top plate have undulating-portions, respectively. A front flat portion is provided on the top plate with an elongated projection extending in a longitudinal direction of the top plate and a rear flat portion is also provided on the top plate with a cut-in projection. When the base plate and the top plate receive the terminal end therebetween, since the elongated projection forcefully presses against and indents the conductor, high contact pressure can be applied and thus a reliable electric connection is provided. Further, since the cut-in projection also forcefully presses against and bites into the conductor, holding power against a tension tending to cause separation.

Terminal hardware for flat-type conductor

Terminal hardware for a flat-type conductor is provided which can provide a high contact pressure between the terminal hardware and the conductor and a superior holding power against a tension tending to separate the terminal hardware from the conductor. At a terminal end of the flat-type conductor, the conductor is exposed on an upper surface. A base plate is formed to extend from a rear end of the terminal hardware, and a top plate is provided so as to face the base plate and be capable of being opened and closed. A pair of crimping portions are provided at opposite side edges of a rear end of the base plate. Further, both the base plate and the top plate have undulating portions, respectively. The terminal end of the flat-type conductor is inserted between the base plate and the top plate. The pair of crimping portions pierces the insulation sheet of the flat-type conductor from one side toward the other. Then, the terminal end of the flat-type conductor is sandwiched between the base plate and the top plate from both of the upper and lower surfaces, and is compressed. At the same time, the pair of the crimping portions is crimped. Accordingly, a portion of the flat-type conductor where the conductor is provided is bent and sandwiched between the base plate and the top plate contacts the conductor.

Metal terminal and board-mounted-type connector

A connector is provided to prevent an increase of stresses in soldered portions between terminals and a circuit board during thermal expansion. Terminals 11 are mounted in a housing 10 and are positioned by an alignment plate 12 for mounting in holes H of a circuit board P. Movable holding portions 17, which are elastically deformable, are formed in a plate main body 13 of the alignment plate 12. The movable holding portions 17 are connected with the plate main body 13 via connection portions 18. Positioning holes 15 for aligning the terminals 11 are formed in each movable holding portion 17. Even if the plate main body 13 is displaced with respect to the circuit board P due to thermal expansion with the terminals 11 fitted in and soldered to connection holes of the circuit board P, such a relative displacement is corrected by the elastic deformation of the movable holding portions 17 and the connection portions 18 and, accordingly, the positioning holes 15 are held in specified positions with respect to the connection holes. Therefore, there is no likelihood that stresses in the soldered portions increase due to the displacement of the positioning holes 15 with respect to the connection holes.

Connector for a circuit board

A contact face 16 of a rib 15 is arranged to be inclined downwards with respect to the fitting direction of connector housings 10,20. Detecting terminal fittings 14 make contact with the contact face 16 and are resiliently bent in a predetermined manner. If the rib 15 should be bent away from the detecting terminal fittings 14, the detecting terminal fittings 14 follow due to their inherent resilience and thereby maintain contact with the contact face 16.

Lock detecting connector

An electrical connector comprises a housing 51 having a plurality of electrical terminals 12 retained by respective lances 16, and a retainer 41 movable from a disengaged position to an engaged position to provide a secondary latch for the terminals 12. In order to prevent accidental forcible removal of the terminal 12, the retainer 41 includes a shutter 42 which, when the retainer 41 is in the disengaged position, occludes access to the terminals 12 and provides access to release openings 54, for the respective lances 16 only. In the engaged position, the shutter 42 provides access to the terminals 12 for connection with a mating connector.

Electrical connector

An electrical connector C for a circuit board P has elongate terminals 11 extending therefrom. An alignment plate 12 supports the ends of the terminals 11 against bending and ensures alignment of the terminals 11 with corresponding apertures of the circuit board. A guide portion 13 of the alignment plate 12 is movable relative to an attachment portion so as to accommodate relative thermal expansion and thereby reduces stress on the electrical connection between the terminals 11 and the circuit board P.

A cover 20 is attached to connector body 10, and has a connecting and supporting member 30 engageable with a receiving member 16. Once engaged the member 30 cannot be removed. The connecting and supporting member 30 can be released only by breaking a breakable member 32. Consequently the connection of the cover 20 with the connector body 10 is maintained with certainty. In a preferred embodiment a part of the breakable member 31 is retained after breaking, this giving evidence that the cover has been removed.

This invention provides a connector which prevents female and male terminals from coupling partially to each other upon coupling and detaching of female and male connectors. In the assembly, the male connector is provided with a guide rod which projects in a coupling direction. The female connector is provided with a guide hole through which the guide rod passes. Upon coupling of both connectors, the guide rod passes through the guide hole to position an insertion direction. The male terminal enters the female terminal without inclining and partially contacting.

Connector assembly

A male terminal metal fixture having a tab with a standard thickness is disclosed which is of high quality, although the fixture comprises a thin mother metal plate. The metal fixture is provided with a tab portion (6) which is folded so that each of longitudinal side edges is opposed to each other. The tab portion (6) is provided with an outwardly bulged area with a certain width (7) on the rear side along the opposed longitudinal side edges by means of a bulged process simultaneously with a bending process. Thus, the tab portion (6) can obtain a standard thickness. Moreover, the tab portion (6) is provided with an inward support projection (8) on the outwardly bulged area. The projection (8) prevents the tab portion (6) from being deformed at a hollow space defined by folded side edges (9) and the bulged area (7). Accordingly, it is possible to reduce a weight and a production cost of the male terminal metal fixture and to maintain the metal fixture to be of high quality.

Male terminal metal fixture

An electrical connector assembly used for charging an electric vehicle includes a power source side connector and a vehicle side connector. The power source side connector is detachably connected to the vehicle side connector mounted on the body of an electric vehicle. A locking device disposed in the power source side connector is turned to a locking state with an ignition key of the electric vehicle so that the connectors are locked in the mating engagement. Since the power source side connector cannot be disconnected from the vehicle side connector, charging can be prevented from being inadvertently interrupted. The charging can be initiated only when the connectors are locked in the mating engagement. Alternatively, the locking device can be used to lock a switch of a charging circuit in a closed position which allows charging to take place.

Electric vehicle charging connector assembly

A battery terminal for a terminal post of a battery includes a terminal body formed by a single plate. The terminal body has top and bottom terminal members each continuous to top and bottom tightening members. The top and bottom tightening members are provided with tapered outer surfaces. A tightening tool having upper stage tapered surfaces and lower stage tapered surfaces is place above the tightening members. When the tightening tool is pressed against the tightening members, the upper stage tapered surfaces and the lower stage tapered surfaces press said first and second tapered outer surface to compress said top and bottom terminal members to firmly hold the terminal post.

Battery terminal

A female terminal fitting for a connector comprises: a cylindrical insertion portion whose front and is opened; and a resilient contact piece is disposed within the cylindrical insertion portion. The resilient contact piece includes: a first fold being formed by extending an extending end portion from a wall portion of the cylindrical insertion portion and folding the extending end portion back into a hollow of the cylindrical insertion portion, the first fold being given resiliency; a second fold being formed by further folding the extending end portion inward, the second fold being given resiliency; and a stopper for regulating an amount of flexion of the resilient contact piece, the stopper being formed by bending the extending end portion of the second fold so as to confront a back surface between the first fold and the second fold. A male terminal fitting is retained in pressure contact with the resilient contact piece by inserting the male terminal fitting into the cylindrical insertion portion.

Female terminal fitting for connector

A projected portion 7 extending in a lengthwise direction of a tab portion 6 and having a given width is formed in a central section of one layer of the tab portion 6 where there is no seam before the tab portion is formed by folding back lateral sections to overlie the central section. The tab portion 6 is allowed to have a specified thickness by the presence of the projected portion 7. The tab portion 6 thus formed enables the fabrication of a more light-weight male terminal fitting at reduced costs and an increase in its strength.
