A bipolar plate includes a substrate and a coating film that is formed at least on a part of a surface of the substrate. The coating film includes a phosphide having a composition represented by MTiP, where M is any one or more elements selected from the group consisting of Ni, Co, Fe, Mn and Cr, and 0.1&#x2264;x&#x2264;1.9. The coating film preferably includes two kinds or more of the metal elements M, and preferably has a thickness ranging from 0.05 &#x3bc;m or greater to 100 &#x3bc;m or less.

Bipolar plate

The electrolysis system of the present invention has a water electrolysis unit equipped with a water electrolysis cell using a solid polymer electrolyte membrane as its diaphragm, a DC power source for supplying the water electrolysis cell with a DC current, and a mitigation unit for mitigating, when a counter electromotive force or abrupt potential fluctuation occurs in the water electrolysis cell, the counter electromotive force or the potential fluctuation. The mitigation unit is preferably a coil+diode (A) connected in parallel between the DC power source and the water electrolysis cell or a diode (B) connected between the DC power source and the water electrolysis cell. The electrolysis system is preferably equipped further with a lowering rate controller for controlling the lowering rate of a current supplied from the DC power source to the water electrolysis cell.

Electrolysis system

First, a reaction gas is supplied to a fuel cell stack including a laminate of solid polymer electrolyte fuel cells and power generation is performed so that a temperature of the fuel cell stack reaches 65&#xb0; C. or higher (heating power generation step). Next, the reaction gas is supplied to the fuel cell stack and the power generation is performed under a condition in which relative humidity is 100% or more (cleaning power generation step). Cooling water of room temperature may be supplied to the fuel cell stack from the outside before the cleaning power generation step is performed after the heating power generation step is completed, or after the cleaning power generation step is completed (quenching step).

A method of producing a displacement plating precursor, including a deposition step of depositing a Cu layer on a surface of a core particle formed of Pt or a Pt alloy by contacting a Cu ion-containing acidic aqueous solution with at least a portion of a Cu electrode, and contacting the Cu electrode with the core particle or with a composite, in which the core particle is supported on an electroconductive support, within the acidic aqueous solution or outside the acidic aqueous solution, and moreover contacting the core particle with the acidic aqueous solution under an inert gas atmosphere.
