A filling apparatus for filling receiving vessels with compressed gas lowers the temperature of the compressed gas in response to the filling pressure of the receiving vessel. As an internal pressure within the receiving vessel approaches a value indicative of a filled vessel, the temperature of the compressed gas is reduced to counter the effect of heat caused by increasing pressure within the vessel. The temperature of the compressed gas is reduced by slowing the compressor and allowing the gas to dwell for a longer period within a heat exchanger between stages of compression. In addition, the temperature of the compressed gas is reduced by increasing the efficacy of the heat exchanger such as by increasing the rate of air flow over the heat exchanger. Accordingly, engine speed, fan speed and compressor speed each can be varied according to various arrangements of the filling apparatus to reduce the temperature of the compressed gases being introduced into a receiving vessel.

An apparatus for lean-burn control of an internal combustion engine, comprising: an exhaust pressure-sensor for measuring the exhaust pressure in the exhaust system of the internal combustion engine at least when the internal combustion engine is subjected to lean combustion; a decision means for determining whether misfiring occurs in the internal combustion engine, based on the measured exhaust pressure; and a control unit for controlling the fuel/air ratio of intake mixed gas introduced into the internal combustion engine, based on the determination of the occurrence of misfiring, thereby accurately and quickly detecting and preventing the occurrence of misfiring and achieving super-lean burn control.

Apparatus and method for implementing lean-burn control of internal

A number of embodiments of fuel injection systems using air/fuel injection and wherein the fuel is not delivered to the injection unit until after the injection valve is open so that fuel cannot flow back into the pressurized air system. In some embodiments, a single valve element and valve seat controls the flow of both fuel and air.

High pressure fuel injection device for engine

An accumulator type of fuel injection nozzle including an improved arrangement for slidably supporting the actuator end of the injection valve within the control chamber that controls the opening and closing of the injection valve. This is accomplished by providing a closure plate that has a large diameter bore that supports an enlarged diameter end portion of the injection valve. The bore is closed by a slidably supported supporting plate that has a smaller diameter bore which engages the control valve adjacent its larger diameter portion and slidably supports it.

Valve support for accumulator type fuel injection nozzle

An induction system for a four-cycle internal combustion engine that improves charging efficiency, power and torque at idle and low speed. A check valve is provided in the intake passage for precluding reverse flow under these running conditions. In addition, a plenum chamber is provided that communicates with the intake passage downstream of the check valve for improving power and torque throughout the entire load and speed range of the engine.
