Positive charges of a sensor element are stored in a capacitor for converting a voltage, are converted into a positive voltage by an amplifier, and then are outputted. When the polarity of the charges of the sensor element are inverted to be negative, the charges inversely flow from the capacitor for converting the voltage and feed back to an equivalent capacitor of the sensor element. The output of the amplifier reduces and returns to a zero-point. An automatic correcting circuit makes an FET conductive and the charges are discharged in order to prevent the fluctuation of the zero-point level due to the negative drift.

A combustion-pressure-data acquisition system of a multi-cylinder engine according to the present invention includes an in-cylinder pressure sensor CPS#n for directly detecting combustion pressure in each cylinder; an amplifier unit AP#n to which the in-cylinder pressure sensor CPS#n for each cylinder is connected; and a channel switching unit MUX to which the amplifier unit AP#n for each cylinder is connected. It selects a system to be measured from among a plurality of systems of signals from the amplifier units AP#n with a channel selection signal outputted from an engine-controlling electronic control unit and outputs combustion pressure data to the ECU. Further, it outputs to an amplifier unit AP#n with which measurement ends a reset signal for discharging the electric charge between the in-cylinder pressure sensor CPS#n and the amplifier circuit to efficiently acquire combustion pressure data of each cylinder with a simple structure without complicated processing.

A positive charge of a sensor element is charged in a signal converting circuit, is converted into a positive voltage, and is outputted. When the polarity of the charge of the sensor element is inverted to the negative and an output of the signal converting circuit is decreased, the leaked charges are superimposed and become the negative. An automatic correction circuit detects the negative output and discharges the charges so as to set the input to '0'. Thus, the offset of the signal level due to the charge leakage is automatically corrected.

A combustion pressure data collection system for a multi-cylinder engine includes a cylinder pressure sensor, an amplifier unit, and a channel switching unit. The cylinder pressure sensor directly detect a combustion pressure of respective cylinders, the amplifier unit converts a charge signal from the cylinder pressure sensor into voltage signal and have an automatic correction function for automatically correcting a voltage output level so that the level is setted to the same level before and after the cylinder pressure sensor generate a charge, and the amplifier unit of the respective cylinders is connected to the channel switching unit. A channel for actuating to be measured is selected from signals of a plurality of channels supplied from the amplifier units in response to a channel selection signal output from an electronic engine control unit, and combustion pressure data are outputted to the electronic engine control unit from the cylinder of the channel, thereby combustion pressure data can be effectively collected by a simple arrangement without complex processing.

The system has an engine, and a planetary gear. The planetary gear has a sun gear, a carrier rotatably supporting a plurality of pinions each of which engages with the sun gear, a ring gear engaging with the pinions. A first motor is connected to an output shaft of the engine and the sun gear of the planetary gear. The first motor is capable of using as a driving source and as a power generator. A second motor is connected to the ring gear. The second motor is also capable of using as a driving source and as a power generator. A CVT-oil-pressure control apparatus has a primary cylinder provided for a primary pulley, having an oil chamber for applying an oil pressure to the primary pulley and a balance oil chamber for applying a centrifugal oil pressure to the primary pulley in a direction which is reverse of a centrifugal oil pressure generated in the oil chamber; a primary valve for adjusting a primary pressure to be applied to the oil chamber based on a line pressure applied by an oil pump; and a balance oil line that connects a drain port of the primary valve and the balance oil chamber. The oil is supplied from the primary valve to the balance oil chamber through the balance oil line. The apparatus also has a secondary cylinder provided for a secondary pulley, having a secondary chamber for applying an oil pressure to the secondary pulley and a secondary balance oil chamber for applying a centrifugal oil pressure to the secondary pulley in a direction which is reverse of a centrifugal oil pressure generated in the secondary oil chamber; a balance oil line that connects a cooling line and the balance oil chamber. An oil cooler is provided in midstream of the cooling line. Oil passing through the oil cooler is supplied to the primary and the secondary balance chambers through the balance oil line.

Power transmitting system for a hybrid motor

A starting apparatus formed by a torque converter is provided between an engine and a continuously variable transmission. A forward and reverse changeover apparatus is formed by a double pinion type planetary gear. Further, a reverse brake is disposed around a ring gear of the planetary gear and a forward clutch is mounted around the reverse brake. A lock-up clutch is provided near the forward clutch. A torque converter case encloses the torque converter, the forward and reverse changeover apparatus, the reverse brake, the forward clutch and the lock-up clutch therein. Since the planetary gear, the reverse brake and the forward clutch are arranged in the radial direction on substantially the same plane, the overall width of the continuously variable automatic transmission can be shortened and the number of components can be reduced.

Continuously variable transmission

An automatic transmission using a torque converter as a starting apparatus comprises a stator hub, an one-way clutch both of which are offset on the pump impeller side respectively, a brake cylinder case provided in an inner diameter portion of the torque converter, a brake piston provided in the brake cylinder case, a part or the whole of a reverse brake and a part of or the whole of a planetary gear which are accommodated in the inner diameter portion of the torque converter, thereby the axial length of the automatic transmission can be reduced.

Automatic transmission

A torque converter, a forward and reverse changeover apparatus including a planetary gear, a reverse brake and a forward clutch, and a lock-up clutch are integrally accommodated in the same torque converter case. Further, the planetary gear, the reverse brake, the forward clutch and the lock-up clutch are arranged on approximately the same plane expanded in the radial direction with respect to a transmission input shaft. Further, a forward clutch piston and a lock-up piston are arranged side by side on the transmission main shaft and a hydraulic chamber for operating the lock-up piston is provided independently from other hydraulic circuits. Thus constituted continuously variable automatic transmission provides a transmission having a short width and a good controllability.

An automatic transmission including a continuously variable transmission, a friction type starting apparatus and a forward and reverse changeover apparatus, comprises a sealed clutch housing rotating integrally with an engine output shaft for accommodating the friction type starting clutch and the forward and reverse changeover apparatus therein, a lubricating oil filled up in the clutch housing for cooling the starting clutch and the forward and reverse changeover apparatus and a clutch drum of the starting clutch integrally formed with the clutch housing, thereby an abrupt temperature rise in the starting clutch can be prevented and the durability of the starting clutch can be substantially improved. Further, since the friction type starting clutch and the forward and reverse changeover apparatus are packaged in the sealed clutch housing, a compact automatic transmission can be realized.

An automatic transmission comprises a torque converter, a torque converter case for accommodating the torque converter, a transmission, an input shaft for connecting the torque converter with the transmission, a forward and reverse changeover apparatus including a planetary gear, a planetary carrier and a reverse brake, comprising, a forward clutch drum connected with the input shaft, a forward clutch plate provided between the forward clutch drum and the planetary carrier, a lock-up clutch drum connected with the torque converter case, a lock-up clutch plate provided between the forward clutch drum and the lock-up clutch drum, a lock-up clutch piston slidably fitted to the input shaft for engaging and releasing the lock-up clutch plate and provided inside of said forward clutch drum between the forward clutch drum and the forward and reverse changeover apparatus, a forward clutch piston slidably fitted to the input shaft for engaging and releasing the forward clutch plate and provided inside of the forward clutch drum between the lock-up clutch piston and the forward and reverse changeover apparatus, a first pressure chamber provided between the forward clutch piston and the lock-up clutch piston for operating the forward clutch piston, and a second pressure chamber provided between the lock-up clutch piston and the forward clutch drum for operating the lock-up clutch piston.

A power unit for a front drive vehicle having a horizontally opposed engine mounted longitudinally, a clutch, a transmission and a differential, in which a differential housing integrally formed with a transmission housing is disposed at a space adjacent to the frontally offset cylinder block of left or right cylinder blocks and a left and right axle shaft is extended from the differential housing respectively. Further, the differential housing is connected by a fastening bolt with a slide bush to a lower case of the engine so as to support the reaction force derived from the axle shafts. The power unit thus constituted offers a short length of a front overhang of the vehicle and the compactness of a power unit.
