A document search device includes a processor, and a memory storing program instructions that cause the processor to search for an input keyword in a document database in which document information including text data extracted by using a character recognition process from document image data generated by imaging a paper document is stored, select a similar keyword in accordance with a degree of similarity to the input keyword from a group of wildcard strings generated from the input keyword and search for the similar keyword in the document database, the degree of similarity being determined by comparing each character of the input keyword with a corresponding character of a wildcard string in the group of wildcard strings, and output a search result obtained by searching for the input keyword in the document database and a search result obtained by searching for the similar keyword in the document database.

A document search device includes a document search unit configured to search for an input keyword in a document database in which document information including text data is stored, the text data being extracted, by using a character recognition process, from document image data generated by imaging a paper document, a similar keyword selecting unit configured to select a similar keyword in accordance with a degree of similarity to the input keyword, from a group of wildcard strings generated from the input keyword, and cause the document search unit to search for the similar keyword in the document database, and an output unit configured to output a search result obtained by searching for the input keyword in the document database and a search result obtained by searching for the similar keyword in the document database.

Advertising information providing method and advertising information providing system

An optical module comprising: an optical semiconductor element, an optical fiber optically coupled to the optical semiconductor element, a substrate on which the optical semiconductor element and optical fiber are mounted, and a sealing section wherein the optical semiconductor element and the region of the optical fiber containing the end face thereof adjacent to the optical semiconductor element are covered by a sealant. A sealant retaining section is formed in the substrate. The sealing section has a dome shape formed by a single layer of sealant, and the end portions of this sealing section, apart from the side thereof adjacent to the optical fiber, are fixed by a sealant retaining section. According to this composition, the optical fiber, optical semiconductor element and the optical coupling section between the optical fiber and the optical semiconductor element are sealed satisfactorily.

Optical module and method for manufacturing same

Composite units of an optical semiconductor device and a supporting substrate are disclosed, in which the rear surface of the optical semiconductor device is provided with one or more electrode patterns and the top surface of the supporting substrate is provided with one or more electrode patterns. The optical semiconductor device and the supporting substrate are fixed to each other by once melting and solidifying one or more solder bumps which intervene between the one or more electrode patterns provided on the rear surface of the optical semiconductor device and the one or more electrode patterns provided on the top surface of the supporting substrate. A good grade of accuracy in the mutual geometric position of the optical semiconductor device and the supporting substrate is obtained in a horizontal direction due to a phenomenon called 'the self alignment results' in this specification, in which a molten metal is inclined to become a ball based on surface tension. Methods for mounting an optical semiconductor device on a supporting substrate with a good grade of accuracy in the mutual geometric position therebetween in the horizontal direction, based on the same technical principle, are also disclosed. To realize the foregoing results, each of the composite units of an optical semiconductor device and supporting substrate in accordance with this invention is given various structures specific to each of them, and each of the methods in accordance with this invention is given various steps or processes specific to each of them.
