A distributed ecosystem including an analysis computing resource and a network is disclosed. The distributed ecosystem also includes at least one sensor for monitoring a characteristic of the distributed ecosystem, at least one localized computing resource in communication with the at least one sensor, and a gateway controller. The gateway controller is in communication with the at least one sensor, the at least one localized computing resource, and the analysis computing resource. The gateway control includes control logic for monitoring the at least one sensor for a data transmit function. The gateway controller also includes control logic for determining if the at least one localized computing resource has requisite resource capabilities for processing data generated by the at least one sensor in response to the data transmit function being transmitted by the at least one sensor.

System and method of determining network locations for data analysis in a distributed ecosystem

A dynamic network and a method for performing data analysis within a dynamic network. A query request generated by a root node in the dynamic network is propagated through other nodes in the dynamic network in a number of request messages. A number of response messages responding to the query request are received at the root node from the other nodes in the dynamic network. Data analysis is performed using data contained in the number of response messages as the number of response messages is received. A request index that keeps count of the number of request messages propagated through the dynamic network is updated using a tracking parameter in each of the number of response messages.

Performing dynamic data analysis within a dynamic network

Methods and systems for information state sharing and consistency maintenance in a distributed and decentralized network are presented. At a first node of a network, a first information state message (ISM) in a hypothesis phase is generated. The first ISM is propagated to at least one node of a spanning tree of the network, the spanning tree having a root at the first node. A verification opinion is received from the at least one node indicating if a state in the first ISM is verified by the at least one node. A consensus regarding the state in the first ISM is determined based on the verification opinion from the at least one node. A second ISM indicating a confirmed phase is propagated to the spanning tree if the consensus on the state of the ISM is reached.

Methods and systems for shared awareness through local observations and global state consistency in distributed and decentralized systems

One or more systems, methods, routines and/or techniques for mission-driven autonomous and adaptive resource management, for example to achieve mission objectives in Quality of Service-managed networked systems, are described. One or more resource allocation algorithms and one or more associated control architectures including component services may be used. A system and/or method may collect input parameters, evaluate system workloads and performance metrics, optimize resource allocations, and adapt to changing workloads and performance metrics to achieve mission objectives. One or more objective functions, one or more constraints and one or more optimization algorithms may be utilized to achieve optimal allocation of resources to maximize the delivered value of an objective function and/or the system. The systems, methods, routines and/or techniques described herein may be autonomic and self-adaptive without requiring human administrators to pre-determine parameters (e.g., demands on resources or performance properties) for specific applications, processes and/or clients.

Mission-driven autonomous and adaptive resource management

A design and implementation of open web architecture for cyber situational awareness is disclosed herein. The architecture is user-centric, web-based and service-oriented to increase the flexibility of user dashboard and utilization of third-party provided information and web services. A method disclosed herein includes accessing a gadget workbench including a workflow to be executed by a web gadget. The method also includes interacting a data source with the workflow, interacting an analysis module with the workflow, and interacting a visualization module with the workflow. The method further includes generating the web gadget based on the data source, the analysis module and the visualization module.

Method and system for object-based multi-level security in a service oriented architecture

Method and apparatus including processes, mechanisms, and devices for use with a networked mission system. The method includes receiving a mission representation including a plurality of actions in a mission and temporal and functional associations between the actions, wherein the actions are to be executed using a plurality of computing nodes. A Time Petri Net (TPN) model of the mission is generated based on the mission representation. The TPN model represents the actions in the mission, temporal constraints for the actions, and functional associations between the actions. An importance value and an urgency value associated with each action are determined based on the TPN model. One or more QoS policies are generated based on the importance values and the urgency values of the actions, wherein the QoS policies are applied to the computing nodes.

Methods and systems for mission-driven quality of service management

A security tool is disclosed for predicting a sequence of events based on the current events observed. The security tool relies on sequential event mining algorithms to discover the baseline event patterns, from which a prediction can be performed. The security tool translates the sequential patterns into a Dynamic Bayesian Network prediction model. A temporal reasoning engine then feeds the model with the current event status and predicts what events are likely to happen in next time window, and with what probability.

System and method for network security event modeling and prediction

A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for constructing a diagnostic network model in a more efficient and timely manner and with improved consistency. A structured electronic representation of a document is automatically reviewed to identify the symptoms experienced by the complex system, the plurality of components of the complex system and the causal relationships between a failure of the respective components and the occurrence of the various symptoms. Respective probabilities can be associated with the causal relationships between the symptoms and the failure of the various components. A network model, such as a Bayesian network model, may then be automatically constructed to represent the symptoms, the components, the causal relationships between failure of the components and exhibition of the symptoms, and the probabilities of the respective causal relationships.

Method, apparatus and computer program product for constructing a diagnostic network model

The embodiments described herein describe a computerized system and method for retrieving and processing data to provide dependency and root cause information for a process. The computerized system and method include receiving historic data of the process, detecting temporal dependency or precedence tasks in the process from the historic data, generating a historic dependency graph, aggregating the historic dependency graph into a probabilistic precedence network (PPN), pruning the PPN, and presenting results to a user.
