A conference session is established. Different unique identifications and persistent dedicated virtual private network conference rooms are assigned to different recipients. A conference session using one of the persistent dedicated virtual private network conference rooms assigned to a recipient is established using a communication device with a processor and memory and in response to an instruction from the recipient assigned the persistent dedicated virtual private network conference room. A network resource is allocated to the conference session established, based on a participant in the conference session logging in to the conference session using one of the unique identifications.

Virtual private meeting room

A different unique identification is assigned to each of a plurality of users for establishing conference sessions. A different dedicated virtual private session room is allocated to each of the plurality of users for use in multiple conference sessions. The different unique identification is assigned to the different dedicated virtual private session room for each user. Conferencing resources of a network over which conference sessions are provided are dynamically allocated to the conference sessions to obtain expected levels of service for the conference sessions, based on the users logging in to the conference sessions.

Conference sessions are established after assigning a unique user identifier to each of multiple individual users, allocating a dedicated persistent virtual private session room to each of the multiple individual users, and assigning each of the multiple individual users' unique user identifier to the corresponding persistent virtual private session room. Conference sessions are established using the persistent virtual private session rooms in response to activation acts by the multiple individual users. Resources for establishing communications among users that are logged in to the conference sessions are dynamically allocated, using distributed conference bridge computers, based on the users logging in to the conference sessions.

A method of establishing a multimedia conference meeting includes assigning unique user identifiers to corresponding users and corresponding persistent virtual private meeting rooms dedicated to the corresponding users. Conference sessions are established using the persistent virtual private meeting rooms in response to activation acts by the users. Resources for establishing communications among users that are logged in to the conference sessions are dynamically allocated using distributed conference bridge computers. Resources presented during the conference sessions in the persistent virtual private meeting rooms remain available in the persistent virtual private meeting rooms after the conference sessions end.

A method of providing a multi-media conference meeting, the method comprising the steps of providing each of a plurality of users with a unique user id; associating with each unique user id a virtual private meeting room; establishing a conference session, in response to an activation act by a user that is a meeting initiator, said session is associated with the meeting initiator's virtual private meeting room; and after establishing the conference session, establishing communications via a plurality of network connections between users that are logged in to the conferencing session.

A method and apparatus for enabling an event such as a telecollaboration or conference event in a communication network.
