A projectile launched from a conventional weapon; upon impact with a human target the projectile attaches to the target and stuns and disables the target by applying a pulsed electrical charge. The electric round is defined as non lethal ammunition directed to incapacitate a human, to prevent him from moving for a short time, to prevent him from committing a crime and to allow authorized personnel to arrest the target. A novel thin film technology transformer and thin film technology battery produce an electrical shock capable of stunning a human being in a device the size of a conventional bullet. The transformer and battery are smaller and lighter than conventional transformers and batteries with similar power output.

Non-lethal wireless stun projectile system for immobilizing a target by neuromuscular disruption

A method for incapacitating an object using a non-lethal projectile equipped with a motion sensing device. The non-lethal projectile is fired at and preferably attaches to the object. Motion of the object is monitored by the motion sensing device. Upon sensing motion of the object, the non-lethal projectile provides a first or another incapacitating stimulus to the object if the motion is sensed as meeting at least one criterion. The criterion may be based on a previously determined algorithm or the threshold is previously determined.

Autonomous operation of a non-lethal projectile

A projectile is provided for use in a non-lethal weapon system. The projectile includes a first body with a longitudinal axis. The projectile having kinetic energy is launched substantially along the longitudinal axis in the direction of a target. The projectile preferably includes a second body with the same longitudinal axis and a hollow. A portion of the first body fits marginally within the hollow. The elastic mechanism includes an elastic deformation of the first body and/or second body while the first body is forced into the hollow during the impact.

Non-lethal projectile

A projectile is provided for use in a non-lethal weapon system. The projectile having kinetic energy is launched substantially along the longitudinal axis in the direction of a target. Upon impact of the projectile with the target an elastic mechanism absorbs elastically a first portion of the kinetic energy. A locking mechanism stores the first portion of the kinetic energy within the elastic mechanism; whereby the remaining kinetic energy of the impact is reduced to a non-lethal level of the target. The projectile preferably includes a deformable head attached to the first body. The deformable head is formed from a viscoelastic material which manifests both the elastic mechanism (with the elastic mechanical properties of the viscoelastic material) and further manifests the locking mechanism with the viscous properties of the viscoelastic material.

In a drum having a flexible sheet material removably held on to an outer surface thereof, a method for reducing aerodynamic lift of an edge of the material, comprising the step of introducing a thin sealing strip between the outer surface of the drum and an inner surface of the film at the edge of the material. The lift may be caused by the natural tendency of the sheet material to curl at its edges and may be exacerbated by the flow of air under the edges as the drum rotates.
