Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) and a network to perform closed-loop transmission power control in a multi-base station environment with out-of-order scheduling. The network may configure a series of transmission power control commands to indicate to the UE transmission power for one or more transmissions to different base stations. The UE may receive the transmission power control commands, consider information including timing and/or resources associated with the transmission power control commands, and determine transmission power for the transmissions.

System and method for closed-loop uplink power control

To accommodate a mix of high frequency carriers and lower frequency carriers, a protocol stack may include a radio link control (RLC) entity that allows configuration of status reporting control parameters on per carrier, or per subcarrier spacing. Alternatively, a protocol stack may include two RLC entities, one for handling high frequency carriers, and another for handling lower frequency carriers. (High frequency carriers and lower frequency carriers may be distinguished based on a frequency threshold.) Furthermore, a user equipment may transmit (to the network) an indication of its L2 buffer size. The network may configure the UE and/or control scheduling, to ensure the UE's L2 buffer does not overrun. Alternatively, the UE may indicate that it can support a percentage of a maximum buffer size. The network may configure the UE and/or control scheduling so that the UE's buffer occupancy does not exceed the percentage.

Handling high data rates in protocol stack when using high frequency spectrum

Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform URLLC scheme selection. The UE may connect to at least one base station. The UE may determine scheduling of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) and a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) are within a threshold duration. Based on the PDCCH and the PDSCH being scheduled within the threshold duration, select one or more transmission control indicator (TCI) states for receiving the PDSCH irrespective of TCI state(s) indicated in the PDCCH. The UE may receive the PDSCH using the selected one or more TCI states.

Ultra-reliable low latency communication (URLLC) scheme selection

A device may wirelessly transmit a physical RACH, and a first message on a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH), in a first step of a 2-step random access channel (RACH) procedure. The device may receive a second message on a physical downlink shared channel in response to successful detection of the first message, in a second step of the 2-step RACH procedure. When detection of the first message is unsuccessful, the device may be instructed to fall back to a 4-step RACH procedure. The device may be configured with one or more first message transmit opportunities (PO), one of which may include one or more PUSCH resource units (PRUs). Some of the communication parameters of the device may be configured to be common for each PO, while other communication parameters may be configured per PRU. Respective new Radio Network Temporary ID values may be defined for the first message and second message.

Framework for two-step random access channel procedure in wireless communications

This disclosure relates to techniques for performing radio resource control procedures for remote wireless devices in a wireless communication system. A remote wireless device may transmit a radio resource control message that includes information configured to be relayed to a cellular base station to a relay wireless device, which may relay the information to the cellular base station. The cellular base station may also transmit a radio resource control message that includes information configured to be relayed to the remote wireless device to the relay wireless device, which may relay the information to the remote wireless device.

Radio resource control connection procedures for remote wireless devices

When a user equipment (UE) encounters a radio link failure condition, the UE may transmit a radio link failure report to a network. The report may include information defining the radio link monitoring (RLM) resources of a current RLM configuration. The information may take the form of a resource bitmap or a list of resource identifiers/indices. The network may use the information (and radio resource management measurements) to determine whether the radio link failure occurred due to misconfiguration of RLM resources for the UE. In cases where the network does not provide RLM configuration, the UE may omit the bitmap (or list), or populate the bitmap with all zeros, or populate the bitmap (or list) according to a currently active Transmission Configuration Indication (TCI) state, which is indicated by downlink control information (DCI).

Mechanisms for radio link failure (RLF) reporting to network

A base station may operate in a context where the propagation delay between the base station and user equipment (UE) devices is large. The base station configures UE devices with a common delay. The base station receives a random access preamble from a UE device. The base station determines a time slot in which the random access preamble was transmitted, based on a configured correspondence between allowable time slots and subsets of an available set of preambles. The base station computes a Random Access Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RA-RNTI) based on parameter values including an index, of the determined time slot. The base station employs the computed RA-RNTI to address a random access response for the UE device.

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device to perform 2-step random access procedures. The disclosure identifies techniques for transmitting and receiving downlink connection configuration information, such as a radio resource control message, in a 2-step random access procedure.

Downlink radio resource control message transmission in 2-step random access

A user equipment (UE) device may reside in a state of dual connectivity with a master cell group (MCG) and a secondary cell group (SCG), wherein the radio access technologies of the MCG and the SCG are different. While in the dual connectivity state, the UE device may transition to a mode of reduced activity (e.g., processing and/or RF activity) relative to the secondary cell group (SCG) in order to save power, e.g., when traffic flow via the SCG is below a threshold, or when scheduling activity on the SCG is low. Various mechanisms may be employed to reduce activity, e.g., mechanisms such as reduction of beam monitoring, deactivation of secondary cells of the SCG, reduction of number of active antenna elements, employment of longer periods for periodic measurement and reporting processes, etc.

Traffic-rate based branch deactivation for UE power efficiency in a dual-connectivity mode

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for overhead reduction for multi-carrier beam selection and power control. A user equipment device (UE) may receive an uplink beam configuration for a group of component carriers and may communicate using the uplink beam configuration for the group of component carriers. The UE may receive an updated uplink beam configuration for the group of component carriers. The update uplink beam configuration may include a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) that may update a pathloss reference signal for the group of component carriers. The MAC CE may include an indication of a spatial relation for aperiodic or semi-persistent sounding reference signals for the group of component carriers, an indication of a transmission control indicator for a physical downlink control channel, an indication of an update for a physical uplink shared channel, and/or an indication of an update for a sounding reference signal.

Overhead reduction for multi-carrier beam selection and power control

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for revocation and/or modification of user consent in Edge Computing (MEC). A user equipment device (UE) may determine that user consent needs to be updated. The user consent may be associated with MEC. Additionally, the UE may transmit, via an application layer of the UE, a user consent modification request to an edge application server of a network, e.g., of an edge data network. The user consent modification request may be carried in application data traffic. The user consent modification request may be indicated via an Nnef_ParameterProvision_Update service operation. Revocation and modification of user consent

A wireless communication device (UE) may provide information pertaining to one or more operating capabilities of the UE to LTE and 5G-NR networks. The UE may transmit information to an LTE base station directly, and to a 5G-NR base station directly, or indirectly via the LTE base station. The information may include preferred values corresponding to any number of different operating parameters associated with wireless communications or wireless communication capabilities of the UE in both LTE and 5G-NR networks, informing and/or requesting the LTE and 5G-NR networks to make provisions based on the transmitted information for the wireless communications of the UE on those networks. The UE may thereby provide assistance information to LTE and 5G-NR networks in a multi-radio-access-technology dual-connectivity setting to request the respective networks to adjust certain operating capabilities of the UE in order to alleviate one or more operating issues that may be affecting the UE.

Temporary handling of wireless communication device capabilities

This disclosure relates to techniques for providing paging for a remote wireless device to a relay wireless device in a wireless communication system. A cellular base station may receive an indication from a relay wireless device of a relay link between the relay wireless device and a remote wireless device. The cellular base station may provide paging information for the remote wireless device to the relay wireless device based at least in part on the indication of the relay link between the relay wireless device and the remote wireless device.

Providing paging for a remote wireless device to a relay wireless device

Sidelink pathloss between a remote user equipment device (UE) and a relay UE may be determined based at least on transmit power information provided by the relay UE to the remote UE. The remote UE may receive, via a sidelink discovery signal from the relay UE, a message that includes first information representative of a transmit power of the relay UE and/or second information representative of a measured receive signal power of a sidelink solicitation signal previously transmitted by the remote UE and received by the relay UE. The remote UE may determine a sidelink pathloss between the remote UE and the relay UE based at least on the first information and/or the second information. The remote UE may select/reselect a relay UE based on corresponding pathlosses determined for the respective paths between the remote UE and different respective relay UEs.
