Antenna arrays include first and second radiating elements, which are responsive to respective first and second hybrid radio frequency (RF) signals, and a power divider circuit. The power divider circuit is configured to generate the first and second hybrid RF signals as power-reduced combinations of first and second RF input signals received at input terminals thereof. For example, the first hybrid RF signal may be generated as a combination of a 70-90 percent energy contribution of the first RF input signal with a 0.26-2.7 percent energy contribution of the second RF input signal. Similarly, the second hybrid RF signal may be generated as a 70-90 percent energy contribution of the second RF input signal with a 0.26-2.7 percent energy contribution of the first RF input signal.

The present disclosure relates to couplers suitable for use in communications systems. The coupler comprises: a main conductive line comprising a first main section and a second main section; a first auxiliary conductive line comprising a first auxiliary section and a first end portion, wherein the first auxiliary section is configured to couple with the main conductive line to generate a first coupled signal; a second auxiliary conductive line comprising a second auxiliary section and a second end portion, wherein the second auxiliary section is configured to couple with the main conductive line to generate a second coupled signal; a transmission module that is configured to combine the first coupled signal and the second coupled signal into an output signal of the microstrip coupler and to pass the output signal to an outlet; and a coupled port coupled to the outlet and used for outputting the output signal.

The present invention provides a phase shifter assembly for an array antenna, comprising: a first level phase shifter, wherein the first level phase shifter is configured to control the phases of a plurality of sub-arrays of the array antenna, where each sub-array comprises one or more radiating elements; a second level phase shifter, wherein the second level phase shifter is configured to proportionally change the phases of the radiating elements in the corresponding sub-arrays; and a power divider, wherein the power divider is connected between the first level phase shifter and the second level phase shifter. The phase shifter assembly has the advantages of both a distributed phase shifter network and a lumped phase shifter network. Specifically, the phase shifter assemblies can independently control the phases of the radiating elements in the array to obtain better sidelobe suppression. Further, phase control parts of the phase shifter are concentrated within a certain physical space range, so the size of the phase shifter assembly may be greatly decreased, and the cost may be greatly reduced, as compared with a conventional distributed phase shifter assembly design.
