A system () for obtaining samples for a dynamic resource management system in a wireless network is configured to analyze () data for a dynamic resource management system to determine one or more combinations of input values which are not present or underrepresented in the data. The dynamic resource management system uses supervised learning to estimate resource demand. The system is further configured to adjust () one or more flow characteristics of a data flow between a user device and a base station to obtain one of the combinations of input values, determine a quantity of resources used for the data flow and actual state and/or cell characteristics relevant to the data flow, create a new sample based on the used quantity of resources, the adjusted flow characteristics, and the actual state and/or cell characteristics, and store the new sample in the data.

The invention relates a method and system for assessing coverage of a wireless access network within a desired area via cooperating wireless access networks and terminals capable of measurement and reporting across the different wireless access networks. The cooperation refers to, among other things, the ability of obtaining coverage assessment for one of the wireless access networks using results of the measurements collected at one of the other wireless access networks. Session setup in an energy-efficient cellular wireless telecommunications system

The present invention provides a random access procedure for establishment of a data connection between a terminal and a SA-cell in an energy-efficient network, such as e.g. a BCG2 network, wherein the total session setup time is shortened. An information request message (IRM) transmission from the mobile terminal is used for selecting the SA-cell that will serve the mobile terminal (i.e. set-up a data session with this SA-cell) and is simultaneously used for performing a 'contention-free-like' random-access procedure towards all candidate SA-cells. In this way performing a RACHprocedure after selecting a SA cell becomes unnecessary, the random access time is shortened and the uplink resources (at the selected SA-cell) and the uplink transmissions from the terminal are more effectively used.

The invention relates to a method for activating at least one inactive cell in a wireless telecommunications infrastructure. The telecommunications infrastructure comprises an active cell containing a plurality of terminals. A presence signal is transmitted in the at least one inactive cell. The plurality of terminals in the active cell detect the presence signal(s) of the one or more inactive cells to gather information from the inactive cell. Method and telecommunications infrastructure for activating an inactive cell

The invention relates to a method for deactivation of at least one first cell of a plurality of cells in a telecommunications network. User devices in the at least one first cell are triggered to report measurement information regarding one or more second cells of the plurality of cells to the telecommunications network. The measurement information is received in the telecommunications network and analyzed in order to determine whether one or more user devices in the at least one first cell are eligible for being served by a second cell of the one or more second cells when the at least one first cell would be deactivated. The invention relates to a method for activating at least one inactive cell in a wireless telecommunications infrastructure. The telecommunications infrastructure comprises an active cell containing a plurality of terminals. A presence signal is transmitted in the at least one inactive cell. The plurality of terminals in the active cell detect the presence signal(s) of the one or more inactive cells to gather information from the inactive cell. A stream of information is communicated by means of transmission distributed over a plurality of transmission antennas and reception distributed over a plurality of reception antennas. In the method the stream is encoded according to an error correcting code, into a series of multi-bit symbols. A sequence of the multi-bit symbols is interleaved, by which symbols are assigned to time slots, so that the multiple bits of the symbols remain together in the same time slot. The interleaved multi-bit symbols are transmitted, with each symbol distributed over the transmission antennas in a respective time slot. Signals received at the reception antennas in each respective time slot are received and demodulated, to produce demodulation results each for a respective time slot. A time-slot sequence of the demodulation results is deinterleaved. Decoded symbol values are selected under a constraint that a series of the selected symbols belongs to the error correcting code. The selection is performed based on information about the probability of the symbol values, obtained as a function of the demodulation results. A function is used that accounts for correlation effects between the signals from combinations of the reception antennas in a time slot.
