In various embodiments, a process for configuring or commissioning a solar power system includes receiving, at a controller, hardware identifiers of a plurality of power electronics modules to be configured. Each of the plurality of power electronics modules of at least a portion of the plurality of power electronics modules is associated with a corresponding photovoltaic panel. A hub is configured to wirelessly communicate with the plurality of power electronics modules. The controller is physically connected to the hub and communicates with the hub via wiring that also carries power from photovoltaic panels to an inverter. The process includes configuring, by the controller, the plurality of power electronics modules using the received hardware identifiers.

Configuring a solar power system for communications

A grid relay state detector includes an AC (Alternating Current) signal source capacitively coupled to at least one grid relay. It further includes a current sensor that detects an amount of AC current flowing through the at least one grid relay. A state of the at least one grid relay is determined based at least in part on the detected amount of AC current.

Grid relay fault detection

An AC power source is controlled to inject an AC signal to a current sensor. In one embodiment, the AC power source is capacitively coupled to the current sensor. An output of an arc fault detection circuit is received. In one embodiment, the arc fault detection circuit is coupled to the current sensor, and wherein the arc fault detection circuit is configured to detect a presence of an arc based at least in part on the current sensor. It is determined whether a fault in the arc fault detection circuit is present based at least in part on an evaluation of the output of the arc fault detection circuit.

Testing to detect intermittent electrical pathways is described. Applied currents may be reversed to fully test all components of a workpiece. Various testing methodologies may be employed. These methodologies may include Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR), mechanical agitation, dark current/voltage testing, (dark IV), i.e., electrical testing of a workpiece using applied electricity, and thermographic imaging, e.g., infra-red thermal imaging. The sensed voltage during agitation may be compared to a benchmark voltage to determine whether or not an intermittent failure exists.
