A digital printing system includes a print head and a processor. The print head is configured to jet droplets of ink. The a processor is further configured to translate a required shade of a color, to be printed at a given location on a substrate by the print head, into a sequence of pulses, the sequence including: (a) up to a predefined maximum number of driving pulses that cause the print head to jet respective droplets, and (b) a tickling pulse, which has a smaller amplitude than the driving pulses and which causes the print head to jet a droplet smaller than the droplets jetted in response to the driving pulses. The processor is additionally configured to apply the sequence of pulses to the print head.

Pulse waveforms for ink jet printing

Some embodiments relate to printing system is described that has an intermediate transfer member (ITM) in the form of a seamed endless belt for transporting an ink image from an image forming station, at which an ink image is deposited on ITM, to an impression station, where the ink image is transferred onto a printing substrate. Two drive members are provided for movement in synchronism with one another. Rotation of the drive members during installation of a new ITM serves to thread the strip through the printing system by pulling the strip from its leading end. Alternatively or additionally, indirect printing system comprising the ITM and an image forming station at which droplets of ink are applied to the ITM to form ink images thereon is disclosed. One or more blowing mechanisms (e.g. associated with the image forming station) are disclosed herein.

Indirect printing system and related apparatus

A digital printing system () includes a print head () and a processor (). The print head is configured to jet droplets of ink. The processor is further configured to translate a required shade of a color, to be printed at a given location on a substrate by tire print head, into a sequence of pulses (), the sequence including: (a) up to a predefined maximum number of driving pulses () that cause the print head to jet respective droplets, and (b) a tickling pulse (), which has a smaller amplitude than the driving pulses and which causes the print head to jet a droplet smaller than the droplets jetted in response to the driving pulses. An indirect printing system comprising an intermediate transfer member (ITM) and an image forming station at which droplets of ink are applied to the ITM to form ink images thereon, the image forming station including a first print bar including a first plurality of print heads and having mounted thereon a first blowing mechanism for introducing a first gas flow, having a first flow rate, into a gap between the first plurality of print heads and the ITM, and a second print bar including a second plurality of print heads and having mounted thereon a second blowing mechanism for introducing a second gas flow, having a second flow rate, into a gap between the second plurality of print heads and the ITM, the second print bar being disposed downstream of the first print bar, the second flow rate being greater than the first flow rate.

Indirect inkjet printing system

A manifold is disclosed for introducing gas into a gap between a print head and an intermediate transfer member (ITM) of an indirect inkjet printing system. The manifold has a first gas flow path terminating in a first discharge mouth for delivering a continuous low speed gas stream and a second separate gas flow path terminating in a second discharge mouth, vertically spaced from the first discharge mouth, for intermittently delivering into the gap a high speed gas stream.

A liquid droplet ejection device, which includes a number of liquid ejection nozzles, a liquid supply layer including porous material, with the liquid supply layer featuring holes related to the nozzles, and a number of transducers related to the holes for ejecting liquid droplets out through the nozzles.

Ink jet print head having a porous ink supply layer

In some embodiments of the present invention, an ink supply system is provided. The system may include a first stationary fluid storage unit, a second stationary fluid storage unit coupled to the first stationary fluid storage unit and an air lung. The system may also include a collapsible fluid level bag positionable lower than nozzles of one or more print heads and a movable fluid pressure damper coupled to the fluid level bag and to the print heads. The system is configured such that when printing, ink is exposed to the ambient atmosphere only at the nozzles.

Closed ink delivery system with print head ink pressure control and method of same

A method for producing an apparatus for ejecting liquid droplets includes the steps of providing a porous medium having a plurality of pores therein, forming a plurality of holes through the porous medium and assembling with the porous medium a plurality of transducers and nozzles. At least some of the plurality of pores are in the porous medium, and enable a liquid to flow into a liquid cavity prior to the liquid droplet ejection. Each transducer corresponds to a corresponding liquid cavity, a corresponding nozzle and a corresponding hole, generally disposed along the same axis. Each transducer is operative to eject liquid droplets through the corresponding nozzle via the corresponding hole.

Method of producing an ink jet print head

An inkjet printing head including an ink supply layer formed with a plurality of connecting bores aligned so as to connect between ink cavities in a cavity layer on its rear side and corresponding ejection nozzles in a nozzle layer on its front side. The ink supply layer is formed from a porous material having a multitude of small interconnected pores so as to allow passage of ink therethrough. The ink supply layer features a number of ink inlet bores passing from its rear surface to its front surface and in direct fluid communication with a pattern of ink distribution channels formed in the front surface. The ink distribution channels and ink inlet bores together define part of an ink flow path along which ink supplied from an external ink supply passes from the rear surface through the ink inlet bores to the pattern of ink distribution channels on the front surface, and through the porous material to the ink cavities.

Inkjet print head

An arrangement employing multiple print heads displaced laterally for printing on a substrate moving relative to the arrangement in a given direction of relative motion has N print heads, where N is at least four, deployed sequentially along the direction of relative motion with a displacement X between adjacent print heads. The sequence of lateral offsets between successive print heads is chosen such that the maximum displacement measured parallel to the direction of relative motion between any two print heads which generate adjacent points in the printed output is no greater than (N/2)X , and is preferably no greater than 2X .
