The present invention relates to an adhesive composition comprising a polyvinyl alcohol and a water-soluble polyphenol compound, to an adhesive comprising the same, and to a manufacturing method therefor and, more specifically, to an adhesive composition, which has little toxicity, can adhere even without a curing process unlike a conventional adhesive, enables the manufacturing of a gel by hydrogen binding characteristics between the polyvinyl alcohol compound and the water-soluble polyphenol compound, and retains adhesive properties in water.

The present invention relates to a heart targeting agent comprising tannic acid, in which the agent aids a heart disease therapeutic drug to be delivered to the heart and bind to the cardiac myocardium by inducing tannylation of the drug so as to make heart targeting and accumulation of the drug possible. Unlike the conventional invasive method used for the traditional drugs to be able to target the heart, the agent of the present invention can help a drug to target the heart with high efficiency just via non-invasive intravenous administration.

A bio-inspired method for detoxifying contaminated water is disclosed. In the method, polydopamine, a mussel-inspired adhesive catecholamine was used as an adsorbent to effectively remove from contaminated water three major classes of toxic agents: heavy metal ions (e.g., Cr, Hg, Pb, Cu, and Cd), toxic organic species (e.g., 4-aminopyridine), and radioisotopes (e.g., Lutetium-177). Furthermore, the polydopamine adsorbent was regenerated by treatment with acid or hydrogen peroxide.

The present invention provides facile and accurate molecular diagnosis of disease-specific genes capable of the naked eye detection through amplifying the target genes to selectively block the fluid path in a microfluidic device. Specifically, the present invention includes an isothermal amplification of target genes through a rolling circle amplification, a microfluidic device for detecting pathogen genes, and a detection method using the same. The present invention relates to a separator for a lithium-sulfur battery having a composite coating layer including polydopamine, and a method for preparing the same, and in particular, to a lithium-sulfur battery suppressing lithium polysulfide elution by using a composite coating layer including polydopamine and a conductive material on one surface of a separator. In the lithium-sulfur battery according to the present invention, a porous structure of polydopamine adsorbs lithium polysulfide eluted from a positive electrode preventing elution and diffusion, and by providing additional electric conductivity, a reaction site of a positive electrode active material is provided, and therefore, battery capacity and life time properties are enhanced.

The present invention relates to an electrolyte containing a polydopamine and a lithium-sulfur battery including the same and, more particularly, to a technique in which polydopamine contained in an electrolyte adsorbs a lithium polysulfide eluted from a positive electrode of a lithium-sulfur battery. When using an electrolyte, according to the present invention, to which polydopamine particles are added, the polydopamine particles dispersed in the electrolyte act to adsorb lithium polysulfide eluted from a positive electrode during the charging and discharging, and thus can suppress the diffusion thereof, i.e., suppress a shuttle reaction, thereby improving the capacity and lifetime characteristics of the lithium-sulfur battery.

The present invention provides a surface-independent surface-modifying multifunctional biocoating and methods of application thereof. The method comprises contacting at least a portion of a substrate with an alkaline solution comprising a surface-modifying agent (SMA) such as dopamine so as to modify the substrate surface to include at least one reactive moiety. In another version of the invention, a secondary reactive moiety is applied to the SMA-treated substrate to yield a surface-modified substrate having a specific functionality.

The present invention relates to a hemostatic injection needle coated with a chitosan in which a catechol group and an oxidized catechol group are introduced and cross-linked. The hemostatic injection needle according to the present invention can suppress bleeding during and after injection, and thus can be effectively used for injection not only into coagulopathy patients, including diabetic patients, patients under anticancer treatment, and haemophilia patients, who have a low hemostatic ability, but also into patients showing blood rejection responses, and children.

A method of coating surfaces of various body-implantable materials with control-releasable nitrogen monoxide using a catecholamine, more particularly, technology of preparing a coating film containing a diazeniumdiolate functional group on a surface of a material to be coated using a catecholamine, is provided. The coating film prepared by the method has advantages in that nitrogen monoxide can be stably supplied under an in vivo environment, and can be suitably used in a living body without causing cytotoxicity. Therefore, among the materials having a coating film formed on a surface thereof, the body-implantable material is especially expected to be widely used for medical and health applications including treatment of ischemic disorders such as arteriosclerosis through controlled release of nitrogen monoxide, regulation of penile erections, antibacterial and antiviral effects, and wound healing.
