Various embodiments provide an electronic device and a method, the electronic device comprising a memory, a communication module, a display, and a processor functionally connected to the memory, the communication module, or the display, wherein the processor is set to determine whether a message received through the communication module includes a message display time and to determine whether to display the message by requesting a message service server to check whether to display the received message when a current time approaches the message display time.
