A cylindrical secondary battery includes a jelly-roll type electrode assembly, a cylindrical battery case for receiving the jelly-roll type electrode assembly, and a cap assembly mounted to the open upper end of the cylindrical battery case. The jelly-roll type electrode assembly includes a long sheet type positive electrode and a long sheet type negative electrode wound with a separator interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. A welding pole is formed on the bottom surface of the cylindrical battery case so as to extend perpendicularly thereto.

The present invention relates to an electrode assembly in which resistance is capable of being reduced. Also, an electrode assembly having a wound position and an unwound position includes an electrode having an electrode collector, the electrode collector having a coating portion coated with an active material and a non-coating portion on which the active material is not applied, when the electrode assembly is in the unwound position, the coating portion and the non-coating portion are adjacent to one another in a longitudinal direction of the electrode collector, one or more tab members extending from the non-coating portion, and one or more foil tabs extending from the coating portion in a width direction of the electrode collector perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, the active material not being applied to the foil tabs.

Electrode assembly

The present invention relates to a secondary battery provided with a multi-tab. The secondary battery includes a jelly-roll in which an electrode and a separator are stacked to cross each other and which is wound around a central core, a plurality of multi-tab parts extending from the electrode and formed on a predetermined area at an end of the jelly-roll, a can member accommodating the jelly-roll, and an insulation member disposed adjacent to the end to insulate the can member from the jelly-roll. The insulation member includes a central hole punched in a center of the insulation member so that the central core passes therethrough and a tab hole punched around the central hole to correspond to the plurality of multi-tab parts so that the plurality of multi-tab parts pass therethrough.

The present disclosure provides a cylinder type battery cell manufacturing apparatus which is an apparatus configured to form a crimping portion on a cap assembly coupling portion of a cylinder type battery cell, the manufacturing apparatus including: a primary crimping mold configured to apply a primary pressure so that an open upper end portion of a cylinder type metal can forms an inclination inclined to a central axis of the metal can on a vertical section in a state in which a cap assembly is coupled to the open upper portion of the cylinder type metal can; and a secondary crimping mold configured to apply a secondary pressure to the open upper end portion in which the inclination is formed so that a flat section parallel to a lower surface of the metal can is formed in the crimping portion.
