The focus is moved by transverse scanning the focus between at least one of: a first circumferential boundary and a second circumferential boundary of the target volume of ocular tissue, and a first azimuthal boundary and a second azimuthal boundary of the target volume of ocular tissue, and axial scanning the focus between a distal extent and a proximal extent of the target volume of ocular tissue.

System and method for clearing an obstruction from the path of a surgical laser

A target surface in an eye is located using a dual aiming beam apparatus that transmits a first aiming beam of light and a second aiming beam of light. An optics subsystem receives a laser beam from a laser source, the first aiming beam of light, and the second aiming beam of light, and directs the beams of light to be incident with the target surface and aligns the beams of light such that they intersect at a point corresponding to a focus of the laser beam. An imaging apparatus captures an image of the target surface including a first spot corresponding to the first aiming beam of light and a second spot corresponding to a second aiming beam of light. A separation between the spots indicates that the focus is away from the target surface, while overlapping spots indicate the focus is at or on the target surface.

System and method for locating a surface of ocular tissue for glaucoma surgery based on dual aiming beams

A look-up table for use in determining an energy parameter for photodisrupting ocular tissue with a laser is generated by determining a plurality of individual spot size distributions, wherein each of the plurality of individual spot size distributions is based on a different set of simulated data and includes an expected spot size of a laser focus at each of a plurality of locations within a modeled target volume of ocular tissue. The plurality of individual spot size distributions are combined to obtain a final spot size distribution that includes a final expected spot size of the laser focus at the plurality of locations of the focus within the modeled target volume of ocular tissue. An energy value is assigned to the plurality of locations of the focus within the modeled target volume of ocular tissue based on the final expected spot size at that location.

System and method for laser treatment of ocular tissue based on patient biometric data and apparatus and method for determining laser energy based on an anatomical model

A method of imaging and treating ocular tissue of an eye having a cornea, an iris, an anterior chamber, an irido-corneal angle, and a direction of view includes establishing a common optical path through the cornea and the anterior chamber into the irido-corneal angle for each of an optical coherence tomography (OCT) beam and a laser beam, where the common optical path is offset from an optical axis within the direction of view. The method also includes obtaining a circumferential OCT image of the irido-corneal angle, obtaining an azimuthal OCT image of the irido-corneal angle, and determining a treatment pattern for a volume of ocular tissue of the irido-corneal angle based on the circumferential OCT image and the azimuthal OCT image. The method further includes delivering optical energy through the laser beam in accordance with the treatment pattern.

Method, system, and apparatus for imaging and surgical scanning of the irido-corneal angle for laser surgery of glaucoma

A device for visualizing an irido-corneal angle of an eye through a window of a patient interface configured to be placed on the eye includes and optics structure and at least one imaging apparatus. The optics structure is configured to engage with the patient interface to provide a line of sight through the window in the direction of the irido-corneal angle, and to subsequently disengage from the patient interface. The imaging apparatus is associated with the optics structure and aligned with the line of sight to enable capturing an image of the eye including the irido-corneal angle.

In a general aspect, a customized surgical profile is validated for execution on a surgical system. In some aspects, a customized ophthalmic surgical profile, which includes a surgical pattern and at least one parameter associated with the surgical pattern, is obtained. A pattern definition file executable by a laser-based ophthalmic surgical system is generated based on the customized ophthalmic surgical profile. Execution of the customized ophthalmic surgical profile on the laser-based ophthalmic surgical system is simulated based on the pattern definition file, and the pattern definition file is validated based on an output of the simulation. The validated pattern definition file is provided for execution on the laser-based ophthalmic surgical system.

Software for calculating an astigmatism treatment is operable upon execution to perform the following steps: receiving an initial primary incision position; determining a power and orientation for a toric intraocular lens (IOL) to treat an astigmatism of an eye based on the initial primary incision position; determining an adjusted primary incision position based on the power and the orientation for the toric IOL to further reduce the astigmatism; and generating an output comprising the adjusted primary incision position.
