An air intake system for a combustion engine includes an air intake duct in fluid communication with an engine intake manifold and a conduit component inserted into the air intake duct along a first assembly direction. The air intake system also includes a hydrocarbon (HC) trap secured to the conduit component within the air intake duct. The conduit component defines at least one retention feature to maintain a position of the HC trap such that removal of the HC trap from the air intake duct results in structural compromise of the at least one retention feature. The air intake duct is also configured to shield the at least one retention feature from user access to inhibit user removal of the HC trap.

Tamper resistant hydrocarbon trap for combustion engines

A hydrocarbon trap assembly for use in an intake system of a motor vehicle engine includes a first duct having an interior recess adjacent an end thereof, the recess having a blind end; a second duct overlapping the first duct's end and closing off a second end of the recess; and a thermoformed hydrocarbon-adsorbing sleeve inside the recess and having a first edge adjacent the blind end and a second edge adjacent the second end of the recess. One or both ends of the sleeve may engage a hook formed on the respective first and/or second ducts. The second end of the sleeve may have a flange that fits into a gap between the ducts.

An engine intake duct is formed by securing a hydrocarbon-adsorbing element to a frame to form an insert, positioning the insert in registry with a blow-molding core, placing a molten plastic parison and mold around the insert and core, and blow-molding the parison to form a shell engaging the frame to retain the insert with a surface of the insert exposed to a hollow interior of the shell.

A spring clamp for providing a compressive load to a compression seal in an air filtration system for a vehicle. The spring clamp may be made of a plastic composite and includes an arch-like arm wherein elastic deformation is distributed throughout the arch while providing a compressive load. The spring clamp may include a head piece with a greater thickness than the other parts of the spring clamp to provide greater material strength at a point of contact between the spring clamp and an air filter housing.

A resonator is disclosed which includes: a sleeve insert and an outer duct sealingly coupled to the sleeve insert. The sleeve insert has a wall with a first aperture in the wall at a first axial distance, a second aperture in the wall at a second axial distance, and a rib extending radially outwardly with the rib located between the first and second apertures. The outer duct sealingly couples to the sleeve insert proximate first and second ends of the inner sleeve and at the rib. The sleeve insert and the outer duct are formed of plastic materials which are coupled by welding or via o-rings placed on the sleeve insert. Cavities, in the vicinity of the apertures, are formed in the outer duct. The cavities, which are fluidly coupled to the sleeve insert via the apertures, attenuate noise.

Acoustic silencer

A fuel pump module and method are provided for installation into a low profile fuel tank. A reservoir holds a substantially horizontally mounted fuel pump. A flange is mounted to the fuel tank to support the module. A link is pinned at one end to the flange and is pinned at a second end to the reservoir to provide a pair of articulable connections therebetween. A pair of springs urge separation between the link, reservoir and flange.
