A system and method for utilizing circuit switched and packet switched resources are disclosed. A voice communication system configured for routing calls from multiple users to circuit switched or packet switched resources generally comprises a hub in communication with at least one circuit switched channel, at least one packet switched channel, and a plurality of user devices. The system further includes a controller operable to select the circuit switched channel or the packet switched channel for connection with one of the user devices when a call is placed to or from the user device and a routing device operable to route the call from the user device to the selected channel.

System and method for utilizing circuit switched and packet switched resources

Systems and methods allow for more efficient wireless networking. In one system, plural subscriber units form a direct network and transmit and receive without base station mediation. In another system, base stations are networked so that one base station can take advantage of the second, networked, base station. In one example, high-capacity lines are connected to one base station which is then networked to a second base station. Through the network, the second base station can utilize the high-capacity lines without being directly connected to them. In another example, the subscriber units can migrate between all base stations in the network. In another example, using networked base stations and unassigned time sequences or codes, calls can be dynamically reassigned between base stations to meet shifting demand.

Replicating and recombinant networking systems and methods for wireless networks

A system integrates a hearing aid with devices such as wireless telephones, advantageously avoiding radio frequency (RF) interference. In one embodiment, a processor transforms an electrical signal to compensate for a hearing impairment. The function used for signal transformation can be accessed via a processor memory enhancement such as a smart card. A digital-to-analog converter (DAC) converts the transformed signal to an analog signal, which then goes to an amplifier and speaker. In other embodiments, an analog amplifier transforms the electrical signal.

An antenna system for a wireless communication system. The system includes an antenna configured to receive and transmit circular polarized transmissions and a drive system. The drive system is operable to produce at least two outputs having generally the same amplitude and an appropriate relative phase difference so as to create a circular polarization transmission from the antenna.

A probe for measuring an electromagnetic field is described. A sensing element senses the electromagnetic field and generates a sensing signal indicative thereof. The sensing signal is characterized by a first modality. First conversion circuitry coupled to the sensing element converts the sensing signal to a second modality. A transmission medium coupled to the first conversion circuitry transmits the sensing signal in the second modality. Measurement circuitry coupled to the transmission medium receives the sensing signal in the second modality and generates measurement data corresponding to the electromagnetic field.

A system and method for assessing the electric and magnetic field generated by equipment under test (EUT) by maintaining the EUT in a specified, fixed tilt position, allowing the EUT to rotate while in that specified position and tilting the TEM cell through at least two angles about the EUT. Embodiments contemplate that a fixed tilt mechanism for maintaining the EUT in a fixed position relative to the tilting of the TEM cell is used. The present invention further contemplates various schemes for determining the electric and magnetic fields generated from the EUT based upon the composite electromagnetic reading from the TEM cell. These schemes, which result in improved measurements of the magnetic and electric fields, determine the angles to which the TEM is tilted.
