The disclosure pertains to an assembly for use in connecting tubing to a fitting with zero dead volume.

Zero dead volume fitting assembly

A tubing and ferrule assembly for use in joining a clad tubing to a fitting. The ferrule is bound to the clad tubing, which includes a partial jacket of stainless steel, such that the inert core protrudes from, and has a common outer diameter with, the jacket. The ferrule is bound to the jacket slightly more distant than necessary for the inert core to contact a fitting. When the ferrule is retained in place, the inert core is compressed and provides a true zero dead volume connection between the clad tubing and the fitting.

A dispensing device which disperses medicate through a needle across a zone within a body. The device includes a needle which is, during use, becomes encapsulated within a tubular needle-receiving member, a reservoir in fluid communication with the needle, positioned within the housing, and in communication with the needle, a second reservoir, a reservoir-connecting conduit in communication with the reservoir, a fluid drive in communication with the fluid in the second reservoir and in communication with the reservoir-connecting conduit, and a linear drive attached to the needle or to the needle-receiving member. The fluid drive impel fluids from the second reservoir to the reservoir-connecting conduit and thus drives the therapeutic agent from the reservoir during the linear displacement of the needle towards the housing. Fluid communication from the therapeutic agent reservoir to the needle is maintained by the tubing during operation of the linear drive.

Delivery system for injections throughout zone of body

A tubing and ferrule assembly for use in joining a clad tubing to a fitting. The ferrule is bound to the clad tubing, which includes a partial jacket of stainless steel, such that the inert core protrudes from, and has a common outer diameter with, the jacket. The ferrule is bound to the jacket slightly more distant than necessary for the inert core to contact a fining. When the ferrule is retained in place, the inert core is compressed and provides a true zero dead volume connection between the clad tubing and the fitting. The relationship of the ferrule, the clad tubing, and the fitting limits the position of the clad tubing and therefore precludes damaging of the associated valve or component.

The device includes a needle which is, during use, becomes encapsulated within a tubular needle-receiving member, a therapeutic agent reservoir in fluid communication with the needle, positioned within said housing, and in communication with the needle, a second reservoir, a reservoir-connecting conduit in communication with the therapeutic agent reservoir, a fluid drive in communication with the fluid in the second reservoir and in communication with said reservoir-connecting conduit, and a linear drive attached to said needle or to said needle-receiving member.

Delivery system for injection through zone of body

A minimally invasive method for drilling into bone and for providing for delivery of medical treatment is provided. The method includes use of a drilling system includes a miniature shaft, a bit, a guide tube encapsulating the shaft during drilling and a cortex adapter thereafter to prevent closure of the drilled hole, a stylet to prevent blockage of the resulting passage, and introduction for treatment following removal of the stylet. As a result, a hole, targeted towards a cancerous lesion within the bone, is possible.

Method of treatment delivery

A minimally invasive and particularly small apparatus for drilling into bone and for providing for delivery of medical treatment is provided. The directional drilling apparatus includes a miniature shaft, a bit, first shaft-mounted thrust ring, second shaft-mounted thrust ring, a tubing jacket surrounding the shaft and intermediate the first and second shaft-mounted thrust rings, and a guide tube encapsulating the tubing jacket. As a result, a hole, targeted towards a cancerous lesion within the bone, is possible. After removal of the shaft and the tubing jacket, treatment may be introduced through the particularly small passage created by the directional drilling apparatus or through the passage via a capillary inserted through at least a portion of the guide tube and the passage, which guide tube may include a hypodermic needle.

Bone drill and methods of treatment

A minimally invasive and particularly small system for drilling into bone) and for providing for delivery of medical treatment is provided. The drilling system includes a miniature shaft, a bit, a guide tube encapsulating the shaft during drilling and a capillary tube thereafter, a capillary tube, and a stylet. As a result, a hole, targeted towards a cancerous lesion within the bone, is possible. After removal of the shaft, the treatment may be introduced via the capillary tube after removal of the stylet.

Treatment delivery system

The invention pertains to a nut and ferrule assembly for use in joining tubing to a fitting. The ferrule has a male member which interlocks with a nut and freely rotates within the nut. The interlock reduces the number of parts necessary to be handled, eliminates the need for the nut to be of the same material as the ferrule, reduces the possibility of flow restriction or tubing deformation associated with rotation of the ferrule, and aids in the removal of the ferrule from the detail when removal is desired.

Compression fitting nut with interlocked ferrule

A deformable bushing to seal tubing to a receiving body is provided. The bushing includes a pair of grooves extending around the bushing with an annular ring between the grooves. The grooves are cut to a depth leaving sufficient wall thickness, and have an inscribed angle of about 90 degrees. An alignment flange may be provided at one end of the bushing to align the axis of the tubing with the axis of the through-hole in the receiving body.
