A bearing arrangement and a bearing block includes a magnetic radial bearing for the contact-less support of a rotor shaft of a rotating machine, and a touchdown bearing for catching the rotor shaft. Both bearings are connected to each other permanently and in an axially aligned manner, and are elastically suspended with regard to a bearing shield, a machine housing, or a foundation of the rotating machine.

Disclosed is a retainer bearing () for retaining a rotor shaft of an electric machine. Said retainer bearing () comprises an outer bearing ring () and an inner bearing ring (). At least one gliding element () which is preloaded in a radial direction of the retainer bearing () is inserted between the outer bearing ring () and the inner bearing ring ().

In case there is a malfunction of the magnetic bearing in an electrical machine, in which such magnetic bearings drive a rotary shaft in a stator (), a safety bearing (') is provided. According to the present invention, the safety bearing (&#x2032;) exhibits an outer ring (&#x2032;) that is mounted on the stator (), inside of which a revolving ring () is operated. The safety bearing according to the present invention is particularly suited for machines that have a particularly large and heavy shaft.
