A method in which an improved lubricating composition containing ionic liquids is used to enable operation of chains, steel belts, wheel bearings, roller bearings, sliding bearings and electric motors for at least 48 hours by reducing the evaporation loss and the lackification tendency of the lubricant due to the lubricant being protected against thermal and oxidative attack.

The invention relates to lubricating grease compositions having a base oil mixture based on oils having viscosities (ISO VG 2 to ISO VG 1500) that are standard for industrial lubricants, an ionic liquid, a thickening agent, e.g., based on a polyurea compound and conventional additives that can be used at current service temperatures that are higher than 120&#xb0; C. to 260&#xb0; C., in particular at a service temperature in the region of high service temperatures that are higher than 180&#xb0; C. to 260&#xb0; C. and also at low temperatures as low as &#x2212;60&#xb0; C. The invention also relates to a method for producing said type of lubricating grease compositions.
