In an apparatus on a spinning preparation machine, for example a flat card, roller card, draw frame, combing machine or the like, for ascertaining the mass and/or fluctuations in the mass of a fiber material, for example at least one fiber sliver, fiber web or the like, of cotton, synthetic fibers or the like, the fiber material is scanned mechanically by a feeler element the excursions of which are converted into electrical signals. In order to facilitate improved and more accurate measurement of the fiber in a way that is simple in terms of structure and installation, a contactless distance sensor is provided for detecting the position of the feeler element, the sensor being a sensor that measures distance using transmitted waves, and is connected to an electronic evaluating device.

In an apparatus for consolidating a conveyable fibre web, for example of cotton, synthetic fibers or the like, there is provided, at the exit from a flat card, roller card or the like, a web funnel together with take-off rollers, the outlet region of the web funnel has a substantially rectangular cross-section, and an endlessly revolving consolidating device, for example comprising two rollers, is provided downstream of the web funnel. In order to improve the apparatus for consolidation, the consolidating device comprises at least two roller pairs arranged one behind the other, which are biased by a force and the speed of rotation of which can be controlled.

An apparatus for regulating the rpm of the feed roller of the tuft feeder and having an rpm measuring device connected to at least one card roller for generating a first signal representing an operational magnitude of the card roller; a signal generating device connected to an output of the rpm measuring device and arranged for generating a second signal as a function of the first signal; a pressure sensing device for sensing pressure in the feed chute and for generating a third signal representing the pressure; a regulator connected to an output of the pressure sensing device and arranged for generating a fourth signal as a function of the third signal; and an integrating device connected to an output of the signal generating device and an output of the regulator for receiving the second and fourth signals and emitting a fifth signal as a function of the second and fourth signals. The integrating device is connected to the output amplifier for applying the fifth signal thereto. The output amplifier is connected to the rpm-variable drive motor of the feed roller for the tuft feeder.
