Method and apparatus for activation of an emergency brake function (') within a vehicle () when a first brake circuit and a second brake circuit are out of order. A first sensor (&#x2032;) is included for detecting whether the pressure (p) in the first brake circuit falls below a first limit value (p). A second sensor is included (&#x2032;) for detecting whether the pressure (p) in the second brake circuit falls below a second limit value (p). A valve arrangement is provided () for activating the emergency brake function if the pressure (p) in the first brake circuit falls below the first limit value (p) at the same time as the pressure (p) in the second brake circuit falls below the second limit value (p).

Method and device for the determining a maximum allowed velocity (V) for a vehicle () when going downhill (). The invention includes a detector () for detection of current inclination (alpha) of the vehicle () in relation to a horizontal plane (), and means () for the determination of a value relating to the maximum allowed velocity (V) of the vehicle in dependence of at least the value of the inclination (alpha). The invention also relates to a procedure for the control of the velocity. The invention provides a procedure for velocity control that takes the inclination into account when going downhill.
