A self-diagnostic circuit includes an electrical conductor configured to multiplex, a first switch interposing the electrical conductor, and a first module crossing the first switch. The first module includes a first receptor antenna associated with the conductor on one side of the first switch, a first emitter antenna associated with the conductor on an opposite side of the first switch, and a first interfacing microprocessor. The first interfacing microprocessor is configured to receive no signal from the first receptor antenna when the first switch is open thus generating a first open signal and a first address signal indicative of the first module and outputting the first open signal and the first address signal to the conductor via the first emitter antenna. The first interfacing microprocessor is further configured to receive a first induced frequency signal from the first receptor antenna when the first switch is closed thus generating a first closed signal and the first address signal indicative of the first module and outputting the first closed signal and the first address signal to the conductor via the first emitter antenna.

Self-diagnostic electrical circuit

An elevator system includes a hoistway; and an elevator car () disposed in and drivable along the hoistway, the elevator car including: an elevator car door (); an elevator door motor () operably connected to the elevator car door to selectably open and close the elevator car door; and a door motor brake () disposed at the elevator car door and selectably engageable with the elevator door motor to prevent operation of the elevator door motor thus preventing undesired opening and/or closure of the elevator car door.

Door motor brake

An elevator system comprises a hoistway (), an elevator car () arranged to move vertically within the hoistway and a drive machine () arranged in the hoistway outside the travel path of the car () or vertical projection thereof. The car () is coupled to the machine () by a rope () which is guided by a pair of idler sheaves () so as to pass under the car (). The idler sheaves () have a diameter of less than 120 mm. The disclosed arrangement allows both overhead space and pit depth to be minimised.

Elevator installation with reduced hoistway dimensions

An elevator car includes a foldable handrail mounted on top of the car. Safety switches are associated with the foldable handrail including a first safety switch and a second safety switch. The first safety switch is closed only when the handrail is folded in a fully retracted position. The second safety switch is closed when the handrail is unfolded in a fully deployed position. A safety chain is associated with the first and second safety switches for supplying power to an elevator drive system in a normal operation or an inspection operation depending on the state of the first and second safety switches.

The elevator has a car movable vertically within a shaft between lower and upper end positions and a drive system coupled to a traction system for controlling movement of the car. A limit switch which is open when the car is in a selected distance range from one of the end positions. The limit switch forms part of a power line supplying power to the drive system for controlling movement of the car in a direction towards that end position in an inspection operation. Thus movement of the car is prevented only in that direction when the car is in the selected distance range in an inspection operation.

A safety device for an elevator system includes a retractable element mounted on a support. The retractable element has a stopping position in which a catch portion of the retractable element projects from the support to engage a triggering member of a safety brake associated with an elevator car as the elevator car traveling in a selected direction approaches a selected vertical position, and a retracted position. An actuator selectively controls the position of the retractable element. A position sensor is responsive to the position of the retractable element to make sure that it is in its stopping position when needed.

The safety device according to the invention for operator protection in elevators with a low-height shaft bottom (), is characterized in that it uses a brace () hinged on abase plate () secured to the bottom of the shaft () and arranged when folded in the horizontal position at a reduced height above the shaft bottom () in normal elevator operation, and a buffer element () secured underneath the car () and adapted to come into contact with a horizontal side surface of the brace () in its folded position, wherein said brace () is adapted to be moved by an appropriate lifting device () to a vertical lifted position in which the buffer element () can come into contact with an upper surface () of the brace (), in a condition where the operator can work in the shaft bottom (), wherein the length of the 15 brace added () to the thickness of the buffer element () provides for a sufficient depth between the underside of the car () and the shaft bottom () to suppress any risk for the operator to be crushed in the shaft bottom ().

Safety device for operator protection in low-height shaft bottom end elevators and elevator equipped therewith

The invention relates to a safety lock () for an elevator landing door detecting intrusion of a person in the shaft through the landing door, activating a bistable switch () through its spindle lever () putting the elevator into safe operation when the landing door is opened by turning the corresponding key, it being impossible to reset the switch () manually from the inside of the shaft, which comprises a device () fixing the lock in the open position with the door open, that is released when the door is closed such that the switch () can be reset by turning the lock () in the closing direction of the door in which the key is turned in the opposite direction to the opening direction, the switch () being reset mechanically by a mechanical means connected to the spindle lever ().
