Disclosed herein is a novel compound of formula (I) for detecting circulating cancerous cells, particularly, cholangio-cancerous cells, from a biological sample, wherein, Rand Rare independently H, or &#x2014;SOM; and M is a monovalent cation selected from the group consisting of sodium ion, potassium ion, lithium ion or ammonium ion. Also disclosed herein is a method of treating and detecting cholangio-cancerous cells from a biological sample of a subject suspected of having cholangiocarcinoma (CCA). The method includes steps of, contacting the biological sample with a magnetic bead pre-coated with the compound of formula (I); detecting a complex formed between the magnetic bead and the biological sample in an immunoassay; and administering to the subject an effective amount of a chemotherapeutic agent to ameliorate symptoms associated with the CCA.

The present disclosure provides an automatic microfluidic system for rapid personalized drug screening including a microfluidic chip. The microfluidic chip includes a fluid storage unit, a fluid driving unit, a reaction unit and a plurality of valve units. The fluid driving unit includes two mixing pumps. Each of the mixing pumps includes two pneumatic micro-pumps, a mixing chamber and a blocking structure. The blocking structure is disposed in the mixing chamber and is connected between the two pneumatic micro-pumps. When the two pneumatic micro-pumps are started alternately, the blocking structure is deflected alone with the operation of the two pneumatic micro-pumps.

The present disclosure relates to a test kit for detecting a concentration of a cardiovascular disease-related biomarker including a group selected from the group consisting of a first aptamer, a second aptamer and a third aptamer. The first aptamer has binding specificity to an N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP). The second aptamer has binding specificity to a cardiac Troponin I (cTnI). The third aptamer has binding specificity to a fibrinogen.

An automatic microfluidic system for antibiotic susceptibility testing of the present disclosure at least includes a microfluidic chip. The fluid storage unit is provided for storing a bacterial suspension, a broth and an antibiotic solution. The reaction unit includes a first reaction chamber and at least two second reaction chambers. The pneumatic micro-pumping unit is adjacently disposed to the fluid storage unit and the reaction unit for selectively, repeatedly and quantitatively transporting the broth, the bacterial suspension and the antibiotic solution to the reaction unit to form a first mixing solution and at least two second mixing solutions. The valve units include a plurality of pneumatic micro-valves and a plurality of valve control air holes for controlling the opening and closing of the pneumatic micro-valves.

A method for analyzing concentration of a cardiovascular disease (CVD) biomarker in a liquid sample includes: applying the liquid sample to a biosensor, the biosensor including a transistor having a drain, a source, and a gate terminal disposed between the gate and the source, and a reactive electrode spaced apart from the gate terminal of the transistor and having a receptor immobilized thereon for specific binding with the CVD biomarker, the liquid sample being in contact with the gate terminal and the reactive electrode; applying a voltage pulse between the reactive electrode and the source, the voltage pulse having a pulse width; monitoring a response current in response to the voltage pulse; and analyzing the response current.

Method for detecting cardiovascular disease biomarker

The present disclosure relates to an oligopeptide which is highly specific to an ovarian cancer. The oligopeptide includes an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1. Provided is an allergen detecting apparatus that can combine with an allergen microarray chip, and the apparatus comprises a microfluidic chip and a clamping unit. The allergen microarray chip can be any commercial chip and a reaction region of the microfluidic chip is configured to fit tightly with a microarray region of the allergen microarray chip allowing a sample or a reagent to contact with a protein allergen disposed on the microarray region. The present invention also provides a platform comprising a control system configured to automatically perform the mixing/binding reactions of the antibody/antigen in the apparatus of the present invention to achieve a faster, more cost-effective, and accurate detection of allergens.

The present invention provides ovarian cancer-specific aptamers, which are selected in vitro using SELEX and a microfluidic chip system. The aptamers can also bind to different histologically-classified ovarian cancer cells with high affinity accordingly. Therefore, the aptamers of the present invention and the applications thereof can not only be used in detection of ovarian cancer cells but also be applied in recognition of different histologically-classified ovarian cancer cells.

Method for detecting mitochondria gene alterations

The present invention provides an optically induced cell lysis biochip, which comprises: an upper substrate made of a transparent, electrically conductive material; a lower substrate made of a transparent, electrically conductive material; a photoconductive layer formed under the lower surface of the upper substrate or on the upper surface of the lower substrate; and a chamber formed between the upper substrate and the lower substrate. When there is an electric potential difference between the upper and lower substrates, a light spot illuminated on the photoconductive layer can cause the impedance of the illuminated area to decrease, thereby causing the electric current to center on the illuminated area of the photoconductive layer. Further, the electric current flowing through the illuminated area can induce the cell lysis process of a target cell.

The invention provides a method for rapidly detecting a pathogen in animals or plants comprising using a specific primer set and nucleic acid in a sample to carry on a loop-mediated isothermal amplification. If at least one amplification occurs, the sample comprises the pathogen. The invention also provides a primer set, probe and kit for detecting a pathogen in animals or plants.
