An evaporator includes: an evaporator case that defines a food storage space therein; a cooling tube located at the evaporator case and filled with refrigerant; a foil heater attached to at least one surface of the evaporator case and configured to contact the evaporator case and to generate heat such that heat for defrosting is transferred to the evaporator case. A defrosting time is reduced in comparison to that of conventional natural defrosting, such that the freshness of food can be maintained, and the cooling efficiency, having been reduced by frost, is increased such that power consumption can be reduced. The foil heater is attached to a conventional roll-bond type evaporator case, and the present invention has an advantageous effect of facilitating the maintenance of the foil heater because of a structure in which the foil heater is attached to the evaporator case.

Disclosed is an evaporator including a case formed in an empty box type and having a storage chamber therein; a cooling tube formed on the case in a preset pattern and filled with refrigerant for cooling therein; a heating tube formed on the case in a preset pattern so as not to be overlapped with the cooling tube and filled with working fluid for defrosting therein; and a heating unit fixed to an external surface of the case corresponding to the heating tube and configured to heat the working fluid within the heating tube.

A refrigerator includes a cabinet that defines a freezing compartment and a refrigerating compartment, and an evaporator installed in the freezing compartment. The evaporator includes: an evaporator case that defines a food storage space formed therein; a cooling tube located at the evaporator case in a predetermined pattern and configured to receive a coolant; and a sheath heater disposed outside of the evaporator case to be adjacent to at least one surface of the evaporator case, the sheath heater being configured to generate heat such that heat for defrosting is transferred to the evaporator case. The sheath heater reduces the defrosting time to maintain the freshness of food, increases the cooling efficiency, and reduces power consumption. The defrosting efficiency by the sheath heater is improved by a reflection member, and an inflow of heat, generated when defrosting, into the refrigerating compartment is reduced by a heat insulation member.

The present disclosure relates to an evaporator, including an evaporator case formed in a box shape with both sides open in a manner of bending two case sheets coupled to each other, a cooling tube left as an empty space between the two case sheets to form a cooling passage for a flow of refrigerant, a heating tube left as an empty space between the two case sheets in a non-overlapping manner with the cooling tube, and a heating wire heater inserted into the heating tube to surround the evaporator case, and generating heat, in response to power supplied, such that heat for defrosting is transferred to the evaporator case.

The present disclosure relates to a refrigerator and a method for controlling the same. The present disclosure provides a method for controlling the same, the method including an initial driving step of driving a compressor according to a rotation per minute (RPM) at which the compressor is driven in a previous cycle, an RPM adjusting step of increasing the RPM when an operation rate is larger than a first setting value, decreasing the RPM when the operation rate is smaller than the second setting value, and maintaining the RPM when the operation rate is between the first setting value and the second setting value, in consideration of the operation rate of the previous cycle, and a driving step of driving the compressor according to the adjusted RPM, wherein the first setting value is larger than the second setting value.

A control method includes initially operating a compressor at the same RPM as an operating RPM of the compressor during a previous cycle, adjusting the RPM in consideration of an operation rate of the previous cycle such that the RPM is increased when the operation rate is greater than a first set value, reduced when the operation rate is less than a second set value, and maintained when the operation rate is within a range between the first set value and the second set value, and operating the compressor at the adjusted RPM, the first set value being greater than the second set value.
