A process for detecting a detuning which currently exists at a wavelength splitter within an optical fiber transmission network, comprises assessing expected values relating to at least two light sub-carriers, and determining actual values relating to said at least two light sub-carriers. A wavelength shift value which quantifies the existing detuning is obtained from a comparison between the expected and actual values. The process may be completed with updating a tuning of a light source from which the sub-carriers are derived, so as to reduce the wavelength shift.

The invention relates to a method for controlling access to an out-of-band communication channel in an optical communications network comprising a master device and slave devices connected to the master device via optical fiber, the optical communications network being adapted to enable in-band communications, the out-of-band communication channel being intended to enable transmissions of signalling signals with respect to the in-band communications. The master device processes signalling signals transmitted by said slave devices without access restriction to the out-of-band communication channel; and upon detecting a collision between signalling signals transmitted by slave devices concurrently accessing the out-of-band communication channel, the master device initiates a temporary time-slotted access to the out-of-band communication channel, so as to restrict access to the out-of-band communication channel by time slot distribution among slave devices likely to concurrently access the out-of-band communication channel using carrier wavelengths substantially identical as those having involved the detected collision.

The invention relates to a method for detecting collisions in an out-of-band communication channel, implemented by a master device of an optical communications network enabling in-band communications and further comprising slave devices. The out-of-band communication channel enables transmissions of signalling information with respect to the in-band communications in the form of modulation symbols over successive symbol periods. Collisions occur when plural slave devices access the out-of-band communication channel by using carrier wavelengths matching each other. The master device: receives a signal via the out-of-band communication channel; oversamples the received signal, so as to obtain samples thereof, by using a frequency used for sampling the in-band communications or a submultiple derived therefrom; checks variations of magnitude of at least one parameter of the samples on a per symbol period basis; and detects a collision when the variations of each said parameter are greater than a predefined threshold.

A device and method to allow to estimate drift induced by temperature variation in a network including a frequency splitter based on a Mach-Zehnder, or alike component, and to track it over time, by adding mirrors to the unused port of the Mach-Zehnder components. The frequency corresponding to the nominal wavelength of the component will be reflected on the other port on the same side of the Mach-Zehnder while other frequencies will go through the Mach-Zehnder to be reflected by the mirror and come back to the emitter. The transmitter, upon reception of FBI message, updates its ARQ sliding window according to received feedback acknowledgement status information, and retransmits PDUs based on its ARQ sliding window. The RRM unit receives FBI messages and manages an extended ARQ sliding window updated according to them. The RRM unit allocates an amount of forward resource and an amount of backward resource, computed based on the extended ARQ sliding window, to the transmitter.
