An air conditioner is provided. A control unit of an outdoor unit of the air conditioner is divided into a plurality of blocks according to a set of rules. Then, the blocks are mounted on different substrates. Therefore, it is possible to simplify wiring, facilitating the interconnection of the blocks and enable the control unit to be managed in units of the blocks. In addition, it is possible to improve user convenience.

The present invention relates to a motor controller, including a converter for converting commercial AC power into DC power, an inverter including a plurality of switching elements, the inverter receiving the DC power, converting the DC power into AC power of a specific frequency through switching operations, and supplying the AC power to a three-phase motor, and a noise filter unit connected between the commercial AC power and the converter in order to remove a high frequency current and including normal mode inductors and common mode inductor. Accordingly, the motor control can control the power factor, limit a high frequency current, and eliminate noise components, that is, ripple components of an input current.

A serial data communication device of an air conditioner including: an outdoor microprocessor having data transmitting/receiving terminals which transmit/receive a predetermined data; an indoor microprocessor having data transmitting/receiving terminals which transmit/receive data to/from the outdoor microprocessor; a rectification part for converting an alternating current power to a predetermined level of a direct current power to thereby supply the direct current power to the indoor/outdoor microprocessors; an outdoor interface part connected between the data transmitting terminal of the outdoor microprocessor and a direct power output terminal of the rectification part, for isolating the rectification part and the outdoor microprocessor through a first insulation switching part and simultaneously for constituting a first communication line; and an indoor interface part for isolating the rectification part and the indoor microprocessor through a second insulation switching part and simultaneously for constituting a second communication line.
