A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a thin-film transistor ('TFT'), a color filter, a pixel electrode, a planarizing layer and a first column spacer. The second substrate faces the first substrate. The TFT is on the first substrate. The color filter is on the TFT. The pixel electrode is on the color filter. The planarizing layer covers the color filter and the pixel electrode, and includes a hybride resin including silane. The first column spacer protrudes from an upper surface of the planarizing layer and maintains a cell gap between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first column spacer is on the TFT. The first column spacer includes the hybride resin including silane.

Liquid crystal display apparatus and method for manufacturing the same

An exemplary embodiment of the present invention relates to a liquid crystal display having a display area and a non-display area which includes a first substrate and a second substrate facing the first substrate, a layer having a first opening, a spacer disposed in the first opening, and a first light blocking member disposed in the non-display area. The spacer is disposed in the first opening to maintain an interval between the first substrate and the second substrate. The spacer and the first light blocking member include the same material.

Liquid crystal display and manufacturing method thereof

A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate and a second substrate facing each other, a first spacer and a second spacer on the first substrate and have different heights, and a liquid crystal layer between the first substrate and the second substrate and including a plurality of a liquid crystal molecule. The first spacer and the second spacer include a photosensitive material defining a maximum height of a spacer with respect to a predetermined a cross-section width dimension of the spacer, and heights less than the maximum height with respect to cross-section width dimensions larger than the predetermined cross-section width dimension. A display substrate includes a base substrate, color filter layers, a bottom supporting layer and a light-blocking and maintaining element. The base substrate includes a gate line, a data line crossing the gate line, and a switching element on the base substrate. The color filter layers are adjacent to each other on the base substrate. The bottom supporting layer is between the color filter layers adjacent to each other and on the base substrate. The light-blocking and maintaining element is between the color filter layers adjacent to each other, and on the bottom supporting layer. The light-blocking and maintaining element includes a light blocking portion, and a maintaining portion which overlaps the bottom supporting layer and protrudes from the light blocking portion.

In a method of manufacturing a display apparatus, a first substrate including a plurality of pixels is formed, and a black column spacer is formed on the first substrate. A second substrate is formed, and a liquid crystal layer is formed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The black column spacer is formed by coating a photoresist on the first substrate, exposing the photoresist to a first light, developing the exposed photoresist and exposing the developed photoresist to a second light.

Method of manufacturing display apparatus

A display substrate includes a base substrate and first, second and third color filters. The first, second and third color filters are disposed on the base substrate adjacent to each other and convert incident light into color light. At least one of the first, second and third color filters includes pigment particles which are regularly arranged to have refractive index anisotropy.
