In a method for at least partially cycle-dependent manufacturing of bound printed products by adhesive binding printed sheets in a spine area of an book block or by stitching with staples folded edges of printed sheets collected astraddle, a sequentially double-sided digitally printed paper web or individual sheets are transversely cut to from the printed sheets. The printed sheets are then transversely folded and subsequently supplied either to an adhesive binding station or to a saddle-shaped conveying support for stitching with staples.

A perfect binder for processing book blocks, including: a conveying device adapted to convey the book blocks along a closed circulating path, the conveying device including a plurality of clamping devices each adapted to convey a book block; and a plurality of processing stations arranged successively along the closed circulating path. The saddle-shaped support is arranged above a conveying device transporting the printed products to a further processing step. The saddle-shaped support has a circulating traction mechanism and driving members connected to the circulating traction mechanism. The driving members act on the printed products to convey the printed products in a direction parallel to a conveying direction of the conveying device.

Device for collecting printed sheets in a certain sequence astride and atop one another to form a printed product

A wire-stitching apparatus for producing wire-stitched print items includes a conveying arrangement for supplying folded, printed products in a straddling position; a wire-stitching unit installed at an adjustable distance above the conveying arrangement and including a bending device; at least one wire-stitching aggregate; and a stitching carriage for moving the at least one wire-stitching aggregate back and forth along a path. The wire-stitching aggregate includes a bender for forming legs of a staple and a driver for pushing the staple legs through the printed products. At least one wire feed feeds wire to the one wire-stitching aggregate at a stitching wire length. At least one adjustable wire-cutting device for adapts a wire staple to the thickness of the printed products. A control unit measures the thickness of the printed products positioned on the conveying arrangement upstream of the wire-stitching unit, and/or processes stored data related to the printed products.
