A ready-mixed setting type joint compound in which formation of gypsum seeds has been inhibited. A method for controlling a setting reaction by mixing a ready-mixed setting type joint compound with one or more metal ion control agents comprising aminopolycarboxylic acid and/or a salt thereof, and further mixing the setting type joint compound with one or more non-calcium phosphate compounds. The method may further comprise mixing the setting type joint compound with a set activator obtained by blending together a first set activator including a cadmium compound, lead compound and/or zinc compound and a second set activator including a ferrous compound, aluminum compound and/or manganese compound.

Joint compounds, activators and methods for setting a joint compound and preventing seed setting

A joint tape to be applied to wallboard is provided and includes a base substrate having opposing sides. In certain embodiments, a first adhesive layer is applied to one of the sides of the base substrate and a second adhesive layer is applied to the first adhesive layer, where the first adhesive layer is different than the second adhesive layer. In certain other embodiments, two different adhesives are used in a single adhesive layer. In use, the joint tape is positioned over and removably secured to a joint or corner between adjacent wallboard panels using the first adhesive layer. After the joint tape is in position, joint compound is applied to the joint tape, and the water in the joint tape activates it to form a secure bond with the wallboard panels.

Drywall joint tape with dual purpose adhesive backing

A gap finishing tape for use with drywall applications includes a trim strip body extending along a central body axis, a hot melt adhesive extending along the central body axis, and a backing paper. The trim strip body includes a first surface, a second surface opposite the first surface, a first side, and a second side opposite the first side, and is at least partially constructed from a metallic material. The backing paper is at least partially secured to the second surface of the trim strip body. The trim strip body is at least partially embedded in the hot melt adhesive.

Heat-applied gap finishing tape

A non-swelling joint tape for use with drywall applications includes a tapered trim strip body extending along a central body axis and a non-swelling backing paper. The tapered trim strip body includes a first surface, a second surface opposite the first surface, a first side, and a second side opposite the first side, and is at least partially constructed from a first dimensionally stable material. The non-swelling backing paper is at least partially secured to the second surface of the tapered trim strip body and is at least partially constructed from a second dimensionally stable material. The tapered trim strip body is dimensioned such that a first thickness between the first surface and the second surface at the central body axis is greater than a second thickness between the first surface and the second surface at the first side and the second side.

Non-swelling reinforced drywall joint tape

Provided herein is a joint compound having a composition to allow tools to easily clean up, comprising water, at least one inert filler, and a binder comprising a sulfonated starch, and a method of preparing the joint compound.

Joint compound with sulfonated starch

A joint tape for drywall includes a substrate layer having an elongate shape in a lengthwise direction and being flexible in the lengthwise direction and in a transverse direction. The tape further includes a covering layer disposed in bonding relation on the substrate layer. The covering layer is rigid in the transverse direction and configured to withstand compressive forces applied generally in the transverse direction and shear stresses applied generally along the transverse direction.

Drywall joint tape and method

Disclosed herein are gypsum products with at least one high efficiency heat sink additive. The gypsum products, e.g., gypsum panels, are less susceptible to the damaging effects of extreme heat as the temperature rises due to the presence of the at least one additive.

A drying type joint compound composition is provided, including: at least one binder, a filler and water, the water having a weight percentage in the range of 12-18% of the total weight of the composition.

Low water drying type joint compound

A corner bead strip is provided for finishing a wallboard corner joint, includes a flexible plastic body having a first flange and a second flange, each flange with a corner edge and an opposite free edge. The corner edges are joined by a central flex zone formed by a plastic composition distinct from a plastic composition used for forming the flanges. A web of paper covers a surface of the body.

Wallboard corner finishing strip

A corner bead for finishing a wallboard corner joint is provided, including a plastic body including a first flange and a second flange, each flange having a rib edge and an opposite free edge. The respective rib edges are joined to form a corner rib defining an angle. A web of face paper covers at least a portion of the body.

Impact resistant plastic corner bead

At least one of these or other problems is reduced using a building material that is uniquely identifiable. A method of making an identifiable gypsum-based building product includes selecting a tagging material occurring naturally in a component of the building material and choosing a carrier substance having a high concentration of the tagging material. By selecting an amount of the carrier substance and adding it to the building material, a building product having a unique product characteristic is created. In a second embodiment of the invention, a second tagging material is combined with the first tagging material to create a unique product. In yet another embodiment of the invention, a supplemental amount of the tagging material is added to the gypsum-based composition in addition to the carrier substance. Some tagging materials are useful in a gypsum-based composition to produce a visual confirmation of the presence of the tagging material.

Tagged joint compound and method of identification

A cling film system includes first and second film piles having different composition. Each film ply includes at least one cling layer and, desirably, one or more additional layers. Each film ply includes an overlapping portion and a second portion. The cling layer of the first film ply engages the cling layer of the second film ply in the overlapping portion of the first film ply and in the overlapping portion of the second film ply.

Wrapping films with mating cling strips

The present technique relates to a floor system that includes panels designed to be joined to one another, with an adhesive coating and a sealant at each joint to facilitate assembly. The panels include mechanically interlocking portions that mate when the system is installed. Disposed on the interlocking portions is a coating adapted to cohesively bond upon contact with itself under ambient conditions and without external activation. The sealant protects the joint and prevents the ingress of moisture following installation. Advantageously, the cohesive bonding of the coating is delayed such that the bonding does not obstruct the installation of the floor panel.

Bonded interlocking flooring

A method for powder coating articles includes the steps of preheating the article to a preheating temperature, coating the article with a polymeric powder coating having a cross-linking temperature that is above the preheating temperature and curing the article having the powder coating applied thereto at a curing temperature. The curing temperature is between the powder coating cross-linking temperature and the melting point temperature of the articles. A system for carrying out the coating method is disclosed as is an article made by the method.
