A method for the production of swaged aluminum alloy parts, by production of a 0.5 mm-5 mm thick alloy strip made of 1-6 wt. % Mg, &#x3c;1.2 wt. % Mn, &#x3c;1 wt. % Cu, &#x3c;1 wt. % Zn, &#x3c;3 wt. % Si, &#x3c;2 wt. % Fe, &#x3c;0.4 wt. % Cr, Zr&#x3c;0.3, other elements &#x3c;0.1 each, total of &#x3c;0.5, the remainder being Al, cutting a blank from the strip, locally or totally heating the blank at a temperature of 150-350&#xb0; C. for &#x3c;30 secs, and swaging the heated blank with the aid of heated tools, at least partially, at a temperature of 150-350&#xb0; C. in the presence of a lubricant which is compatible with later operations. The swaged parts are automotive body work parts.

Rolled or extruded products for welded constructions made of AlMgMn type aluminum alloy. These products contain, in % by weight, 3.0&#x3c;Mg&#x3c;5.0, 0.75&#x3c;Mn&#x3c;1.0, Fe&#x3c;0.25, Si&#x3c;0.25, 0.02&#x3c;Zn&#x3c;0.40, optionally one or more of the elements Cr, Cu, Ti, Zr such that Cr&#x3c;0.25, Cu&#x3c;0.20, Ti&#x3c;0.20, Zr&#x3c;0.20, other elements &#x3c;0.05 each and &#x3c;0.15 in total, wherein Mn+2Zn&#x3e;0.75. In the welded state, these products have improved mechanical strength and resistance to fatigue without unfavorable consequences with regard to toughness and corrosion resistance, and are particularly suitable for naval construction, for industrial vehicles and for bicycle frames made of welded tubes.

An aluminum alloy useful for drawing and/or ironing, particularly of drink cans. The alloy consists essentially of, in weight percent, Fe&lt;0.25; Si&lt;0.25; Mn from 1.05 to 1.6; Mg from 0.7 to 2.5; Cu from 0.20 to 0.6; Cr from 0 to 0.35; Ti from 0 to 0.1; V from 0 to 0.1; other elements: each &lt;0.05; total&lt;0.15; and remainder Al.

Strong formable isotropic aluminium alloys for drawing and ironing

A method is disclosed for brazing without filler metal two components, of which at least one is an Al alloy. According to the method, prior to brazing, at least one Al alloy component is maintained in a region of temperatures included between the temperature of solvus T.sub.v of the alloy and 2/5 of temperature of fusion (solidus) T.sub.s of the alloy, expressed in degrees Kelvin, for a sufficient period of time. After this treatment, which may or may not be isothermal, the alloy is suitable for brazing in a domain of temperatures included between the temperature of fusion T.sub.e of the most fusible eutectic corresponding to the equilibrium diagram of the constituents of the alloy, and that of the solidus of the alloy. The method permits the realization of perfectly homogeneous brazed seams for alloys considered not to be brazable.

The invention relates to a method for the deformational transformation of aluminum and its alloys comprising the steps of deforming the aluminum in the solid state and annealing the deformed aluminum at a temperature at which recrystallization occurs. The recrystallization temperature of the aluminum is raised and the grain size is minimized by adding to the aluminim 5 to 1000 ppm uranium prior to the deformation. The method is particularly applicable to the production of aluminum based sheets intended to be subjected to heating at a relatively high temperature, for example the heating which accompanies enamelling or brazing operations, where the heating operation could change the mechanical properties of the sheets.
