A method for managing a business. At least one relationship is determined between N business components (B, B, . . . , B) and respective N costs (C, C, . . . , C) and respective N values (V, V, . . . , V) pertaining to the N business components. The N business components are a subset of M business components (B, B, . . . , B) of a Component Based Model (CBM) of the M business components subject to M&#x2265;2 and N&#x2264;M. Determining the at least one relationship includes relating business components of the CBM with an Information Technology (IT) model of an IT system. The IT model includes abstract IT structures, virtual IT structures, real IT structures, or combinations thereof.

Coupling of a business component model to an information technology model

Embodiments of a system and method are disclosed for adjusting the execution of a multi-media performance in response to a live performance. Embodiments track and receive data regarding elements of the live performance, analyze the live performance data, determine the pace of the live performance, and use this data to appropriately execute elements of the accompanying multi-media performance. Some embodiments may perform this analysis and adjustment automatically. Certain embodiments may use voice detection devices, motion detection devices and musical detection devices to track the live performance. The live performance may be analyzed in relation to an electronic script, which may contain instructions related to the execution of the multi-media elements.

A method and system for assembling business systems by identifying assets and commercialization mechanisms needed for a business system, which are then associated with business components described on a component business model (CBM) map, based on asset types and elemental control structures that are common across an industry, and therefore reusable. The generic elemental control structures needed for the business system are configured and then assembled into a service network for implementing the business system. A business system so assembled may be enhanced by adding elemental control structures to the service network.

A process of staging a live or pre-recorded performance that follows a schedule is disclosed. The performance involves electronic and mechanical media that are computer controlled, preferably so as to create a virtual reality of events. When an action that is not normal to the schedule occurs, the timing, speed, or sequence of one or more media activities are adjusted to compensate for the action so that the action does not adversely affect the continuity and totality of the performance to the audience. Computer hardware and software embodiments include a script of a scheduled performance and a control program that steps through the script while allowing for flexibility and adaptation of the performance in response to an action that is not normal to the schedule. A control interface to the sensory stimuli device may be provided to sensory stimuli associated with the performance by the control program.

Virtual staging apparatus and method

A method and system are described for using business artifacts to identify elements of a component business model. Artifacts operated upon by the business are first identified, and then used to analyze the business into business operations. This is done by identifying every business activity that acts on an artifact, creating directed graphs for the business activities, and decomposing the directed graphs into sub-graphs, each sub-graph representing a business operation and being annotated by a verb expression, the annotated sub-graph representing a business service. The business services are then clustered into non-overlapping components, using common affinities reflected in the verb expressions, and organized by partitioning into internal and external operations, exposing a business service for each external operation. The components are then clustered into non-overlapping business competencies, and arranged by accountability level.

Method and system of using artifacts to identify elements of a component business model

A system and method is described for using a component business model to partition a business into non-overlapping components, and then allocating different components to appropriate organizing strategies, based on attribute values assigned to each component. In the best mode of implementation there are two attributes: whether or not the component differentiates the business within the market place; and whether the component is industry standard or is tailored by the organization. These attributes and their values map the components of the business to a matrix. Based on the combination of attribute values in each cell of the matrix, available organizing strategies are also mapped to the matrix, thereby identifying for each component an appropriate organizing strategy.

System and method for using a component business model to organize an enterprise

A method and system using a component business model (CBM) architecture provides a staff assignment service to an enterprise. A staff assignment scenario is described in terms of business components in a CBM architecture of the enterprise, the applicable business components forming a staffing service network. For each business component in the staffing service network, functionalities supporting the scenario are identified, and collaborative links among the business components are established, sufficient to enable the service functionalities within the staffing service network to operate so as to assign staff to a project of the enterprise. The staff assignment service is adapted dynamically by repetition of this technique as new scenarios are developed.

Method and system for assigning staff as a service in a service network within a component business model architecture

In addition, the present invention embraces a computer readable medium comprising a script containing a thread(s) of performance activity. A thread typically contains computer implementable instructions to control one or more electronic and/or mechanical media devices involved in a performance.

A system and method for enhancing the visual effect of a video display. Such a system includes a video display that displays moving images and a light source connected to the video display for providing a light effect that softens visual boundaries of the video display and enhances overall visual effect, wherein the light source illuminates one or more surfaces adjacent to the video display.
