A fiber optic terminal configured to optically connect optical fibers from received network-side and subscriber-side fiber(s) to facilitate providing direct or intermediate optical connections between a fiber optic network and a destination. The fiber optic terminal includes at least one adapter module comprising at least one adapter panel. The adapter panel is configured to receive both an input fiber and one or more of a plurality of output fibers from an optical splitter. To establish optical connections between the network-side and subscriber-side fiber(s), the input fiber from the optical splitter is optically connected to an input fiber optic adapter on the adapter panel, which is optically connected to the at least one network-side fiber. One or more of the plurality of output fibers from the optical splitter are optically connected to one or more output fiber optic adapters on the adapter panel, which are optically connected to the subscriber-side fibers.

Fiber optic terminals and methods for establishing optical connections are disclosed. In one embodiment, a fiber optic terminal is provided that includes a base defining an interior chamber. The fiber optic terminal includes a terminal cover configured to close onto the base. A plurality of fiber routing guides are disposed in the base defining an optical fiber perimeter in the interior chamber. At least one fiber optic connection panel is disposed in the fiber optic terminal for establishing optical connections. The fiber optic connection panel is disposed on the internal surface of the terminal cover such that when the terminal cover is closed, the fiber optic connection panel is disposed within the optical fiber perimeter. In this manner, routing of optical fibers around the optical fiber perimeter provides space for disposing the fiber optic connection panel in the fiber optic terminal when the terminal cover is closed.

Disclosed are fiber optic connectors including a holder for attaching a fiber optic cable to a fiber optic connector along with cable assemblies and methods for making the same. In one embodiment, the holder includes a first and a second cantilevered arm that are squeezed together when a sleeve is placed over the holder. Further, one or more of the cantilevered arm may include a plurality of teeth for 'biting' into the cable jacket and providing a suitable fiber optic cable retention force. The fiber optic connectors, cable assemblies and methods disclosed herein are advantageous since they allow the craft to quickly, reliably, and easily attach a robust fiber optic cable to a connector, thereby providing a rugged solution for the craft.

Fiber optic connectors, cable assemblies and methods for making the same

There is provided splice trays and splice assemblies that provide convenient access to optical fiber slack within a relatively small area or volume. Some splice trays are adapted for use with microstructured optical fibers to further reduce the size of the splice tray or splice assembly. Some splice trays provide fiber routing devices on the cover of the splice tray. The fiber routing device may be positioned on an inside surface of the cover and/or on an outside surface of the cover. The splice trays and/or splice assemblies may be used with or as fiber drop terminals used within multiple dwelling units.
