A toaster having: a frame enclosing an open heating chamber; a bread supporting carriage mounted in the chamber and vertically movable relative to the frame, the carriage being retainable in a lowered position for toasting; an extension piece fixed to the carriage; a restoring element coupled between the frame and the extension piece for urging the carriage upwardly away from the lowered position to a first bread discharge position; and a control mechanism for controlling the position for the carriage. The control mechanism includes: a lever mounted for rotation about a first axis, a crank element extending perpendicular to the first axis and connected to the lever for rotation as a unit therewith, and a cam device connected to the extension piece and engaged by the crank element at a location spaced from the first axis for converting rotational movements of the actuating lever into vertical movements of the carriage.

A heating element composed of at least one mica sheet and a heating ribbon, or strip, mounted on the sheet, a support device holding the mica sheet and constituting a first reflector, and a plate secured to the support device and constituting a second reflector. An electric toaster composed of a base, a case having an upper end, a toasting chamber disposed in the case and having an opening in the form of a slot at the upper end for the introduction and removal of bread, a movable bread support rack in the chamber, and at least one substantially vertical heating element as described above.

The invention concerns a toaster comprising a frame arranged in a casing, at least a vertical grill chamber open at the top part of the casing, a peripheral roof at the opening of the grill chamber and integral with the toaster, having a top edge provided with openings for receiving rolls, heating elements located in the proximity of the grill chamber. The invention is characterized in that at least part of the edge of the rood is raised relative to the top part of the casing. Said integrated device for heating bread is associated with specially shaped grills for holding rolls, said grills comprising atop edge substantially perpendicular to said grills and oriented outwards of the chamber, so as to partially close the heating chamber, when they are brought closer to each other, thereby deflecting the ascending hot air flow generated by the heating elements.

A toaster is disclosed including a main frame with a toasting compartment including an electrical resistance heater, a carriage mounted for reciprocation within the toasting compartment so that the bread product to be toasted can be loaded when the carriage is in an upper position and the bread product can be toasted when the carriage is in the lower position, an electromagnet for holding the carriage in the lower position, and a safety assembly for interrupting the supply of electricity to the electrical resistance heater at the end of a toasting cycle independent of the position of the carriage with the subassembly and including a lock to lock the carriage in the lower position, an armature for carrying the lock mounted adjacent to the electromagnet, and a resilient contact to establish electrical contact with the electrical resistance heater when the assembly is in the active position.

In a toaster having a housing, a bread-supporting carriage movably mounted in the housing for movement between a toasting position, a temperature-maintaining position, a rest position and a supplementary raised position, and a spring coupled with the carriage to apply a force which urges the carriage in a direction from the toasting position toward the supplementary raised position, a manually operable control element is operatively associated with the carriage and is movable to a selected one of a plurality of control positions for retaining the carriage at a selected one of the temperature-maintaining position and the rest position.
