A modular search object framework provides modular search results including entity and non-entity search results. The framework includes circuitry that outputs an interactive entity section based on an online search. The interactive section includes a plurality of moveable visual objects, such as cards that can be shuffled, flipped, or swiped around.

Data relating to points-of-interest for a geographical area are retrieved from, for example, a travel site. Geo-tagged data relating to the points-of-interest are retrieved, for example, images from an image sharing service. Travel times between the points-of-interest are determined, for example, using a mapping service. The data relating to the points of interest, the geo-tagged data and the travel times are used to create a travel graph for the geographical area, such that the geo-tagged data is used to determine time users spend at specific points of interest. If a user requests a travel itinerary for a beginning and ending location within the geographical area, the travel graph is used to create a travel itinerary that maximizes a prize score for the itinerary within a time constraint. The prize score can reflect the popularity, number of users and time spent by users at the points-of-interest in the itinerary.

A system and method for search, including steps of: receiving one or more search terms; searching an index for the one or more search terms to generate search results; retrieving the search results, wherein some of the search results include web pages associated with application programs; preparing a search results page for presentation to the user, wherein said search results page comprises at least a partial listing of the search results; presenting a search tool pod located on a portion of the search results page without obscuring the search results, wherein said search tool pod includes a list of application modules for executing the application programs associated with the search results that are presented; receiving a selection of a first application module; and presenting the first application module for user interaction in an area of the search results page that is smaller than the entire search results page.
